50 Cent Addresses Celibacy And Never Marrying
Share on FacebookShare on Twitter

50 Cent has spoken out about about celibacy and marriage on The Late Show With Stephen Colbert.

During an appearance on Wednesday’s episode of the talk show, the rapper—whose real name is Curtis James Jackson III—revealed new details about his personal life when host Stephen Colbert asked about his Us Weekly magazine cover.

“It says right there. Right there. It says, ‘Is he really celibate?'” the comedian said, pointing at the magazine. “50 Cent, are you celibate?”

“Listen, when you calm down, you can focus. All right?” 50 Cent replied. “It’s been good. I’ve been good to me.”

“Okay, but what’s the money for if you’re celibate?” Colbert asked. “You know there’s a couple of motivating factors in our evolutionary biology, and they don’t include celibacy.”

According to Merriam-Webster, celibacy is defined as “the state of not being married; abstention from sexual intercourse; abstention by vow from marriage.”

“Stephen, that’s when things start getting complicated, things start getting confusing because people coming for different reasons,” the “In da Club” artist explained. “And then, if you like, go on a date but you have no interest in anything you kind of—I can see you now. I said, ‘God d*** girl you fine but you ain’t got nothing going on.'”

“Oh, but so the intoxication of a romantic desire clouds your ability to pursue the person,” Colbert responded, to which 50 Cent agreed: “Absolutely does, Stephen.”

“Wow… have you been married?” the former Colbert Report star asked. “Mind me asking if you have been married in the past?”

“No, no. I’m safe. I’m not a happy hostage,” 50 Cent said, as the audience laughed.

“You’ve never been married?” Colbert repeated.

“No. I’m here, man. I’m free,” the Get Rich or Die Tryin’ actor assured. “I’ve made some mistakes, just not that one.”

In the replies, fans praised 50 Cent for his honesty.

“He’s amazing,” Cousin Skeeter actress Angela Means wrote.

“Self disciplined & focused; that’s a smile where genuine happiness exudes from😻😻👏🏾👏🏾I love me some 50💛✨,” @topnotch_goddess_ said.

“I really like 50 Cent. His personal evolution has been amazing,” @joejonfitzpatrick added.

“He looks very happy,” @peggijanestylist shared, while @houseofcyndarella chimed in, “Happiness looks good on him. 👏”

50 Cent’s past romances include high-profile women like singer Ciara and comedian Chelsea Handler. Most recently, he was linked to former model Jamira “Cuban Link” Haines, though it’s unclear if they’re still together. He also shares son Marquise Jackson with Shaniqua Tompkins and son Sire Jackson with former partner Daphne Joy.

Newsweek reached out to 50 Cent’s team via email for comment.

In an interview with Entertainment Tonight in January 2023, Handler called 50 Cent her “favorite ex.”

“I love 50 Cent, he was fun. He was just a sweetheart and he was fun to be around,” she said at the time, after the pair briefly dated in 2011. “My friends loved hanging out with him. I loved hanging out with him. It was a pretty short-lived romance, it was only two months. But yeah, I mean, if I saw him I’d definitely have a drink with him.”
