Polestar has created some of the best electric cars on the market right now, so who better to venture into the e-bike market with a distinct offering that’s turning heads—and not just for the way it looks.
In partnership with Swedish bicycle manufacturer Allebike, Polestar has created a limited edition electric mountain bike designed to complement its upscale SUV lineup, like the Polestar 4. This exclusive e-bike, clearly aiming to lure Polestar vehicle owners, costs an eye-watering €8,800, which is more than most of us would put down as a deposit on a car.
Let’s get into the nitty-gritty. The Polestar eMTB is outfitted with high-end components that justify its premium price. At its heart lies Shimano’s EP8 drive system combined with a powerful 750Wh battery, promising extended rides with minimal downtime.
The e-bike boasts robust Öhlins front and rear suspension, offering 170mm and 160mm of travel, respectively, to ensure a smooth off-road experience. As Polestar puts it, this is an “electric mountain bike [with] a thrilling ride and excellent off-road capabilities, just like Polestar’s electric performance SUVs.”

Polestar reveals the brand’s first e-bike. With high-end components, exclusive European availability, and rather large price tag, the brand is aiming to attract new customers and expand its presence in the luxury mobility market.

Structurally, the bike is built with a carbon fiber frame that optimizes both durability and lightness. The Shimano XT 12-speed electronic groupset works alongside Shimano XTR M9120 brakes, offering precise control, and a RockShox Reverb AXS dropper seat post, featuring a 170mm drop, makes it easy to ready yourself for the downhills. The bike’s geometry, with a slack head tube angle of 64.3º and 77.5º seat tube angle, looks really aggressive and will help when climbing.
Visually, the bike exudes the signature Polestar aesthetic. It comes in the proprietary “Polestar exterior colour Space with dampers and details painted in the Polestar signature colour Swedish gold.” Such design elements not only highlight the luxury brand’s attention to detail but also create a seamless integration with Polestar’s SUV lineup, if you really want to match your bike to your electric car.
Despite these luxurious offerings, there are certain limitations. Currently, the bike is only available in a single frame size suitable for riders between 170-190cm. But more importantly, this e-bike is exclusive to the European Economic Area (EEA). That rules me out in the UK.
Polestar’s leap into the e-bike market aligns with its broader goal of capturing the luxury lifestyle segment, mirroring its approach in the electric vehicle market. Integrating high-end specifications and sophisticated design not only reflects this ambition but also strengthens the brand’s product line. Of course, the price tag is going to be a huge barrier for many, but you’re getting a pretty incredible piece of kit for your money.
