At a horserace in Idaho, over 100 illegal aliens have been arrested.

The Department of Homeland Security issued a press release regarding a raid by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement at a horse racing event in Idaho, over the weekend. More than 100 illegal immigrants were arrested.
According to the Idaho Capital Sun, DHS Assistant Secretary of Public Affairs Tricia McClaughlin stated that the ICE raid “dismantled a illegal horse-racing operation, an animal fighting operation, and a gambling business” in Wilder. McLaughlin said that 105 illegal immigrants had been arrested.
Brad Little, the Idaho Governor, said that illegal gambling operations with animals are often associated with drug trafficking and animal abuse as well as illegal weapons trafficking. Large sums of cash end up in cartel bosses’ hands. The State of Idaho assisted in serving a warrant that was issued by a Federal Judge in connection with illegal activities occurring in Wilder.
The Idaho Governor’s Office released a press statement on Tuesday afternoon stating that about 400 people attended the event on Sunday, and that none out of the 105 individuals in ICE custody were children.
Illegal gambling operations that involve animals are often associated with drug trafficking and animal abuse. They also include illegal weapons trafficking and large amounts of money which end up in cartel bosses’ hands. Idaho Governor Brad Little said that the State of Idaho assisted in serving a warrant from a federal court in connection with illegal activities occurring in Wilder. According to the Governor’s Office, the FBI conducted a “month-long investigation” in coordination with the Treasure Valley Metro Violence Crime and Gang Task Force and executed a warrant issued by a Federal Judge at the Canyon County Facility. It is standard practice for law-enforcement to detain other people present at the scene while they process the scene. This ensures the safety of civilians as well as officers and preserves evidence.
