The number of illegal border crossings continues to fall.
11 647 illegal border crossings were reported on the Southwest border in September 2025.
This is a decrease of 89% compared to September 2024 when 101 790 reports were made.
Illegal border crossings were at a historically low level in September, representing a drop of 92.4% from the record high reported in 2023.
According to U.S. Customs and Border Protection’s newly released data, 26.002 illegal border crossings were reported across the country last month. This compares to a high of 341 392, reported in September 2023.
The numbers reported for September 2022 were significantly lower than the 144 666 reported for last year.
Last month, fewer than half of the 11 647 reports at the Southwest border were reported, a drop of 89% from the 101 790 reported in September last year.
The number of border patrol encounters is down 84% compared to the previous fiscal year.
The number of Border Patrol encounters in Fiscal Year 2025 ended on September 30, and was 237 538. This is a 84% decrease from the previous fiscal years (1,530 523).
After President Donald Trump’s inauguration in this year, the number of border arrests has dropped dramatically. From 29,105 in January, to 8,349 by February.
The numbers are still historically low despite the slight increase that occurred in September.
The Trump administration has limited asylum and fortified southern border with troops.
