Trump Voices Concerns Over Potential Nexstar Merger: “NO EXPANSION of the FAKE NEWSNETWORKS”.

Donald Trump has expressed skepticism about the merger of Nexstar Media Group.

Trump wrote Truth Social: “I would be unhappy if this allowed the Radical Left Networks “enlarge”…NO EXPANSION of FAKE NEWS NETWORKS. Make them smaller!

Newsweek reported:

President Donald Trump expressed his personal concern that the merger of Nexstar Media Group could give networks such as NBC and ABC a greater reach. These networks have been critical to him and his administration.

Nexstar and Tegna have been negotiating a merger since August 2025, when Nexstar announced that it had signed an agreement with Tegna to purchase the TV giant for $6.2 billion.

Variety reports that the merger could make Nexstar, which is already the biggest owner of local TV stations in the United States and has 265 stations spread across 44 states, the largest media company in the United States with a reach of around 80 percent.

Trump posted an article on Newsmax CEO Christopher Ruddy warning of the merger.

Ruddy told Newsmax’s Rob Finnerty if Carr’s plans were implemented 10 years ago, Donald Trump might not have won the presidency today or the GOP may no longer control Congress.
