American Checks Into Hotel Abroad for Work, Finds ‘Most Unhinged’ Room Ever
Share on FacebookShare on Twitter

One of the best parts of traveling is checking into your hotel and seeing where your base will be for the next few days, while you take in the sights and sounds of a new city.

However, for one woman who checked into an Oslo, Norway, hotel, she got a room that was so unusual, she described it in a video as “unhinged”.

Speaking to Newsweek, Ash, who is from the United States but currently living in the United Kingdom, called it a “wild experience.”

While checking in to the Radisson Blu Plaza Hotel in Norway’s capital city, Ash was told by a receptionist that he was aware she was traveling for work, and would “make sure you have the best hotel room for your work travel.”

Ash didn’t think much of it, but when she entered the room, she realized it really was a working room; next to her double bed was a full-on conference room, set up and ready for meetings.

“I was cracking up because it was so random,” tech sales worker Ash, 30, told Newsweek, adding that one of her colleagues staying in the same hotel was given a similar conference-bedroom.

In a TikTok post to her account @ashseestheworld on August 23, Ash gave a tour around her hotel room, showing the large conference desk, TV, eight chairs around the table, and more stacked in corners and closet space; a total of 27 chairs.

“Sir, what do you think I’m going to do?” Ash said, as she showed off two separate bathrooms, and office supplies including Post-it notes and a staple remover.

She wrote on the video text, “The most unhinged hotel room,” and added in a caption: “This is so out of pocket like WHAT.”

Speaking to Newsweek about her room with the “million chairs,” Ash said she may have been given the unusual space as the hotel was fully booked up. But “the bed was comfortable and, as far as I was concerned, I had everything I needed and more, so I didn’t say anything.”

Ash added, however: “I’ve been doing a ton of traveling for work for the last seven years, and I have NEVER seen anything like this.” Newsweek has contacted Radisson Hotels for comment.

TikTok users were in bits at the video, which has over 31,000 views and thousands of likes, with one viewer writing: “At this stage I’m thinking that the bed is in their by mistake and you’ll wake up with a board meeting happening.”

Another posted: “That’s what I imagine when the CEO says they’re working from home but they don’t allow remote work for their other employees.”

“So unhinged but iconic at the same time,” a third commented.

And one commented: “Or is this just a themed hotel room, such an immersive experience.”

Ash told Newsweek: “I was only in solo for the night, so unfortunately did not get a chance to make the most of my personal conference room. Maybe next time!”
