CNN reported

Two law enforcement sources report that the FBI arrested on Thursday a man who, investigators believe, planted pipe bombs in the vicinity of the Republican and Democratic National Committee HQs the night before the US Capitol Riot 2021.

The arrest comes after a nearly five-year search to identify the bomber, who was only seen on grainy surveillance videos wearing a hoodie and gloves with a mask.

FBI video clips released previously showed an individual setting a bomb in front of the DNC headquarters, and another one in an alleyway behind the RNC. Both were just a few block away from the US Capitol. The next morning, Vice President-elect Kamala Harris was within 20 feet from the bomb at DNC. Its discovery diverted the police away to the violence at the Capitol.

The FBI said that the bombs could have harmed anyone in their vicinity if they had exploded. Police were evacuated from the Capitol Complex after the bombs were discovered. Then, supporters of Donald Trump began to break through the police cordons and attack the Capitol Building.

Brian Cole, a Woodbridge resident from Virginia, has been identified by police as the suspect.

New York Post reported:

The Post confirmed that a suspect was arrested in connection with pipe bombs planted outside the Democratic National Committee and Republican National Committee on the night of the Capitol Riot of Jan. 6, 2021.

A law enforcement source said that Brian Cole, a suspect from Woodbridge, Va. was arrested Thursday morning. He was scheduled to appear in federal court in Washington, DC at 1 pm.
