Bailey Cameron’s Mom Issues Update on Missing Marine
Share on FacebookShare on Twitter

The mother of Bailey Cameron, a 23-year-old Marine stationed at Camp Pendleton, California, who was reported missing on August 25, said her son was spotted nearly a week later in apparent distress.

Cameron, who is still on active duty, was getting ready to leave the Corps on September 9 when he disappeared some two weeks before that, a day after being seen at the Coyote Bar and Grill in Carlsbad.

At the time of his disappearance, Cameron was wearing a black T-shirt and jeans, according to surveillance footage. He left the bar alone at approximately 1:30 a.m. local time.

The next day his belongings—including his backpack, glasses and cellphones—were found a block away from the bar, the family said. Cameron is 6 foot 1 inch and weighs 190 pounds. He is white and has green eyes and brown hair.

📌 UPDATE: We will be going live with Bailey’s parents today, Monday 9/2, with a factual update.‼️URGENT NEED‼️If you have a connection to any hotels in Oceanside or Carlsbad, please DM us OR if…

Since his disappearance, there have been unconfirmed sightings of him around the base. According to Cameron’s family, a Marine saw him on Saturday, August 31, at approximately 11:30 p.m. as he was running toward the ocean in apparent distress, as reported by Fox 5/KUSI.

“The gentleman we talked to said Bailey looked so afraid, so distressed. I just need to know that he’s OK,” Cameron’s mother, Juliette England, told the local news media. “We just want to get him across the finish line,” his family said.

Since the Marine was reported missing to Carlsbad Police on August 25, Fox 5/KUSI reported that surveillance footage has emerged showing Cameron on base at an ATM on Wednesday, August 28—three days before the other Marine told his family that he saw the 23-year-old.

In a video posted on Facebook by the RAD Movement, a nonprofit organization helping families who are searching for missing relatives, on Monday, Cameron’s mother and father sat outside of their son’s barracks, asking for answers about his disappearance.

“We greatly appreciate anything that you can do to help us find our son,” his mother said in tears. “Please keep looking,” she added.

“This is not normal behavior for Bailey,” his father said. “Anybody that knows him says this is not normal. He’s scared for some reason, and we just need him back.” He also called for people on social media to please refrain from misdirecting searches for their son.

Cameron’s parents have flown from Washington D.C., to Camp Pendleton to find their son. They have pledged to remain until he is found.

Newsweek contacted the RAD Movement for comment by email on Tuesday morning.
