Brad Pitt’s ‘Appeal Given Free Rein Again’ As He and Ines Go Public—Expert

A body language expert has told Newsweek that Brad Pitt’s “more boyish appeal” has been “given free rein again” during his red carpet debut with his girlfriend Ines de Ramon.

Pitt and de Ramon, a jewelry designer, were photographed on the 81st annual Venice Film Festival’s red carpet on Sunday. The couple has been dating for approximately two years and it is said to be Pitt’s first significant relationship following his split from Angelina Jolie. De Ramon was previously married to The Vampire Diaries actor Paul Wesley.

The couple was also photographed alongside George and Amal Clooney, celebrating the first official screening of the two actors’ movie Wolfs. In the film, two criminal “clean-up” specialists are hired for the same job and things spiral out of control when they have to work together.

Looking at the photos of the red carpet, body language expert Judi James told Newsweek: “Brad Pitt looks unfurled here, no longer posing like one half of a Hollywood power couple, just a guy having fun and enjoying himself with his girl and his best mate Clooney.

“Pre-loved but not looking so pre-judged-looking here, he seems relaxed to be calling the shots himself with his more boyish appeal given free rein again.

“Even his face looks impossibly boyish again and his body language with Clooney is pure bromance with the pair playing about on the red carpet like kids on the street, triggering some in-jokes that create a very watchable synchronicity.”

Newsweek emailed a spokesperson for Pitt for comment on Monday.

James also compared Pitt and de Ramon to the Clooney’s, saying they give off a similar “vibe” but haven’t “quite got the knack of all those fake ‘intimate’ posing moments when the Clooney’s stand face to face, gazing at each other for the cameras.”

She added: “Both Amal and Ines seem to supply a non-actressy presence here, smiling in support rather than as co-stars to their men.”

James highlighted Pitt and George Clooney’s casual poses, pointing out the fact they have one hand in their trouser pockets.

“Both have an arm around their plus-one’s waist but both wear the kind of beaming smiles that suggest they each energize and motivate the other,” she said.

“Apart from their hand clasp with Brad’s hand very firmly on top to suggest dominance, Brad and Ines seem to sidestep any serious PDAs here apart from one moment when their gaze meets and Ines looks at him adoringly. Brad looks impressively tension-free here though, despite his family problems, with his steepled brows and wide grin suggesting he’s having the best fun at his movie premiere.”

Pitt and Jolie have both attended the Venice Film Festival this year, Pitt for Wolfs and Jolie for her film Maria. While they didn’t cross paths, Jolie has alluded to their ongoing divorce and legal battles in press interviews.

Jolie spoke at a press conference before her film’s premiere on Thursday, which is based on the life of opera singer Maria Callas. During this time, she was asked how she related to the American-born Greek soprano.

“There’s a lot I won’t say in this room that you probably know and assume,” she said, per People.

“I think the way I related to her may be a surprise—[it was] probably the part of her that’s extremely soft and doesn’t have room in the world to be as soft as she truly was, and as emotionally open as she truly was. I think I share her vulnerability more than anything.”

Pitt and Jolie met in 2004 on the set of Mr. & Mrs. Smith and tied the knot on August 23, 2014. The former couple share three adopted and three biological children: Maddox, Zahara, Shiloh, Pax and twins Knox and Vivienne.

However, in 2016 they split after Jolie claimed in court documents that Pitt “choked one of the children and struck another in the face” during a flight the family took that year from France to Los Angeles. Jolie further alleged that Pitt “grabbed Jolie by the head and shook her.” After an FBI investigation into the alleged incidents, Pitt—who has denied all allegations—was not arrested or charged.

Nearly eight years after Jolie filed, the lengthy divorce is still ongoing as the actors argue over custody and their finances, as well as a separate lawsuit regarding the French winery, Château Miraval.
