Brett Favre Uses Patrick Mahomes to Take Shot at Taylor Swift

Former Green Bay Packers legend and Hall of Famer Brett Favre is not a fan of celebrities using their status to influence political opinions. That was the gist of his message on Twitter/X after praising Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes for his take on endorsing presidential candidates.

Mahomes was referenced by former President Donald Trump after Brittany Mahomes, the quarterback’s wife, received backlash for liking an Twitter/X post that was in support of the former president.

Trump appeared on “Fox & Friends” to state he liked Brittany more than pop sensation Taylor Swift, who recently endorsed Kamala Harris to become the next President of the United States.

With Trump’s mention of the Mahomes family, Patrick was asked about the interaction, stating he does not want to use his platform to influence fans on where their political ideologies should be placed.

“I don’t want my place and my platform to be used to endorse a candidate or do whatever. My place is to inform people to register to vote, inform people to do their own research and make their best decision for them and their family,” Mahomes said.

The response from Mahomes was praised by Favre, who then used the opportunity to slam the way Taylor endorsed Harris.

Good take by Mahomes — I see a lot of celebs trying to influence their audience instead of letting the people think for themselves.

If the best choice for them ain’t clear and they’re easily swayed by their fav pop artist, it’s not going to be a good thing. https://t.co/kReCND6Q9C

“Good take by Mahomes — I see a lot of celebs trying to influence their audience instead of letting the people think for themselves. If the best choice for them ain’t clear and they’re easily swayed by their fav pop artist, it’s not going to be a good thing,” Favre’s response states.

Though Favre does not come out and say that he targeted Swift with his response, it is clearly a dig at the pop star. According to Favre, people can be “easily swayed” by their favorite “pop artist,” given the reach said artists have.

Mahomes took a far different route in this situation, only reiterating that he sees no value in using his press conferences or social media to explain which candidate he plans to endorse or not endorse.

Favre attempted to do the same thing, except his response took a subtle yet intentional jab at Swift, which was not at all what Mahomes was getting across in his response to taking a stance on politics.

Favre might also catch a lot of flak for going after one of the biggest talked about celebrities in the world, along with one who has become one of the central figures in the NFL, despite football fans’ aversions to seeing her on-screen at every Chiefs game.

Swift is dating Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce.
