Spanish police said Monday that they arrested three suspected mafia members who were wanted in Italy. The suspects are accused of crimes such as attempted murder, weapon trafficking and money-laundering.

In a police statement , the stated that the suspects are “one of the leaders of a dangerous clan” from the Neapolitan Camorra and his son, as well as his son-in law, but did not name the three.

Recently, they were detained in Marbella in southern Spain. This is a city where international criminal gangs have been settling in recent years. The police shared a video to social media showing the officers escorting three suspects, who were in handcuffs.

When the Spanish police discovered that the clan boss, wanted in Italy for money laundering had fled to Spain, they began their investigation.

According to the statement, he was traced to a house in Marbella that had “extensive” security features and which he almost never left.

The son was arrested by police when he went to the city centre, despite the fact that he faces a 30 year prison sentence for attempted murder and weapon trafficking.

The police said that the son had made several evasive moves to avoid detection by the police before being arrested.

In a statement, it was added that on Sunday the police arrested the crime bosses and their son-inlaws as they left the fortified house.

This man faces a sentence of 20 years for drug trafficking and tobacco smuggling.

In a press release, police stated that those arrested were considered “men of honor” because they adhered to a strict code.

The Italian police assisted in the operation.
