The 30-year-old guard also added that he “shouldn’t have been there” and that he was “moving on” from the incident.
White appeared to be arguing with someone before someone had ‘flipped his hat,’ the way he described it. The situation then escalated, and White seemed to be furious and had to be held back by some bystanders.
It was reported that law enforcement officers arrived to stop the incident, and the White reportedly walked away and left while being held.
White, the Celtics star guard, and University of Colorado alum, attended the big rivalry game earlier this month against the Colorado St. Rams at Canvas Stadium in Fort Collins.
White attended and played at the University of Colorado from 2016-17 after starting in Division II basketball at the University of Colorado, Colorado Springs.
The 30-year-old had quite the collegiate career as a Buffalo, being named to the First-Team All-Pac-12 in 2017 after averaging 18.1 points, 4.1 rebounds, and 4.4 assists per game. White was also named to the five-man All-Defensive Team.
After the San Antonio Spurs selected him in the first round of the 2017 NBA draft, he has been vital for every single team he’s been a part of, including last year’s Celtics.
The Celtics, who captured their 18th NBA title in franchise history, needed White’s play more than ever. He was a catalyst for their title run, and his play and numbers showed it.
Last season, White averaged 15.2 points, 5.2 assists, and 4.2 rebounds per game and was signed to a four-year, $125.9 million extension this offseason. He also earned his first-ever gold medal as a member of Team USA in the Paris 2024 Olympic Games.
The new season is upon the Celtics and the rest of the NBA, and White will do his best to move on from the incident. The Celtics will look to capture their 19th title in franchise history, and the oddsmakers love their chances.
According to Fan Duel Sportsbook, the Celtics have the best odds to win the 2025 title with +300 odds. The next closest team is the Oklahoma City Thunder, with +700 odds.
