The Kansas City Chiefs offense looked close to unstoppable in their Week 1 victory over the Baltimore Ravens on Thursday night.
This week, they could look even scarier.

On Monday, Chiefs head coach Andy Reid spoke to reporters and provided an update on star wide receiver Marquise “Hollywood” Brown. The Chiefs’ major offseason acquisition missed the first game of the season due to a sternoclavicular dislocation he suffered in the preseason, but could be back as soon as this weekend.
“He’s getting close,” Reid said to reporters. “I know he’s feeling better, we’ve just got to kind of see where it goes from here. They’ve been doing these periodic tests on him and making sure that he’s headed in the right direction and scans and all that, but it looks like it’s heading in the right direction, now we just have to see where it goes from there.”
Reid didn’t want to confirm Brown would be back for Week 2 but made it sound like a possibility.
“We’ll see how Hollywood works out with all of his tests that he’s going to have this week,” Reid said, “but we’ll just see where he’s at.”

The Chiefs offense was able to manage without Brown in Week 1. Second-year wideout Rashee Rice was quarterback Patrick Mahomes’ favorite target, catching seven passes for 103 yards with a team-high nine targets. No other player had more than four targets.
Rookie first-round pick Xavier Worthy was a great second option for Mahomes and the Chiefs. Worthy had three touches — one rush and two catches — and came away with two touchdowns. In total, he accumulated 68 yards with one rushing touchdown and one receiving touchdown.
While Rice and Worthy proved to be viable options for Mahomes, Brown was expected to be the top option heading into the season.
The former first-round pick of the Ravens in 2019 has 313 receptions for 3,644 yards and 28 touchdowns across his five-year career. The best season of his career came in 2021 with the Ravens, when he reeled in 91 receptions for 1,008 yards and six touchdowns.
If Brown is able to take the field this weekend, it will provide a huge boost to an already strong Chiefs offense. The Chiefs welcome the Cincinnati Bengals into town for a matchup that could have huge postseason implications.
The Bengals shockingly lost to the New England Patriots in Week 1, but will look to get their season back on track with an upset win over the defending back-to-back champion Chiefs. That task will only be more difficult if Brown is able to suit up.
