Sunday’s NFL action wraps up with a tricky trip to Atlanta for the Kansas City Chiefs.

After narrowly avoiding upsets at home against AFC North foes Baltimore and Cincinnati, the Chiefs are road favorites against the Falcons, who are coming off a stunning win over the Eagles as heavy road underdogs last Monday night.

Falcons QB Kirk Cousins improved dramatically from his shaky showing in his Atlanta debut in the win over the Eagles, throwing for 241 yards and 2 TDs, including the game-winner with less than a minute left in regulation.

Chiefs vs. Falcons will kick off at 8:20 p.m. ET on NBC/Peacock, with Kansas City favored by

Chiefs vs. Falcons Betting Preview

Though they got the W, Week 2 proved that the Chiefs might once again have a Bengals problem.

Kansas City has now done just enough to win in each of its first two games of the season. It also came away from last week’s game with some potential offensive concerns following a long-term injury to RB Isiah Pacheco and a rough night by rookie left tackle Kingsley Suamataia.

The second-round pick out of BYU in the 2024 NFL Draft was benched late in the Bengals game. Second-year tackle Wanya Morris will start at LT on Sunday night.

The Chiefs passing game will be tested by Atlanta’s solid secondary, which has started the season by limiting both Justin Fields and Jalen Hurts to sub-200-yard passing nights.

Mahomes is coming off an awful performance by his standards against the Bengals, who limited him to 18-of-25 passing for 151 yards, 2 TDs and 2 picks. Even against a good Atlanta passing defense led by oustanding safeties Justin Simmons and Jessie Bates III, don’t count on Mahomes struggling like that in back-to-back weeks.

Despite the loss of Pacheco, the Chiefs will likely lean on their running game given Atlanta’s struggles up front against Philly, which ran for 186 yards on the Falcons.

Defensively, Kansas City faces another talented veteran QB in Cousins. If he and Bijan Robinson can pick up where they left off a week ago, Sunday night’s game could become a shootout.

Expect the Chiefs to send heavy pressure at Cousins. The 36-year-old struggled against Pittsburgh’s pass rush and in the first half of Falcons vs. Eagles, but diced up Philadelphia down stretch while enjoying a ton of time to throw on the game-winning drive.

Chiefs vs. Falcons Prediction, Best Bets

Sunday night’s game has the feel of a high-scoring showdown, as Mahomes and the Chiefs will be able to move the ball on a Falcons front seven that struggled to get off the field in Week 2.

As long as Atlanta can keep Cousins upright, he should be able to keep this game close, though, especially if the Falcons can establish Robinson and the ground game and stay out of third-and-long.

There are enough questions about the Chiefs offense in its first game without Pacheco for this one to be close for at least a half, but Kansas City will ultimately make enough plays in the fourth quarter to pull out another close win.

We don’t have a strong lean either way on whether the Chiefs will cover, though, so we’re going to stay away from the spread.

Chiefs vs. Falcons Best Bets

  • Falcons first half +2 (-110 at bet365)
  • Over 46.5(-110 available across the board at DK, FD, bet365, ESPN BET)
