A dog’s way of supporting his big brother after he returned from a trip to the animal hospital has melted the hearts of viewers online.
The dog, a dachshund named Remi, was captured sitting in front of his older brother George’s travel crate, wagging his tale in solidarity. The duo’s owner had shared a clip of Remi, “keeping his brother company,” to TikTok on September 15 under @george.and.remi. The young dachshund’s concern for his older sibling, also a dachshund, spotlights the caring nature of the breed and has led to an outpouring of emotion in the comments section.
TikTok users were able to see George, who has long red-shaded fur, sitting in front of his older brother’s crate, wagging incessantly while staring directly at him.
An overlaid text on the video read: “When your big brother is finally home and you sit and keep him company.”
Dachshunds, often affectionately referred to as “wiener dogs” due to their distinct elongated bodies and short legs, are a breed renowned for their loyalty and affectionate nature.
They are highly social animals, forming strong bonds not just with their human families but also with their canine siblings too.
Whether it’s cuddling up together during nap time or alerting the household to potential threats, dachshunds are excellent companions who thrive in the company of their furry family members. Their unwavering loyalty and gentle care ensure that their bonds with canine siblings are deep.
Viewers online have been moved by the bond between George and Remi, and the post, which has been viewed more than 129,000 times since it was shared to the platform, and has amassed more than 120 comments.
“Dachshunds are simply the best! I hope you baby is alright,” one viewer, @wasitalkingt0you, said.
Another, @ollie, added: “Okay, just gonna cry for the rest of the day.”
“We don’t even deserve these sweet little souls,” a third user, @ivynbrit, shared.
Another, @rosie.0423, added: “Dachshund are angels on earth. Actually all doggies are. I’m just a bit bias.”
“We truly don’t deserve dogs. If I take my female ween with me, her brother will drag a blanket to the door and will not move until she’s back. Love ring cameras,” another, @joshfletcher031, said.
Newsweek reached out to @george.and.remi for more information via email.
