Dad And Daughter’s Shared ‘Silly Gene’ Delights Internet

A 60-year-old dad has proven you’re never too old to embrace your silly side on TikTok in a new viral clip.

While out grocery shopping with her parents, daughter Isabella Morello Rodriguez, from northern Virginia, knocks on the car window to get her dad’s attention.

As Arnold Morello opens the door for her, the 25-year-old steps out the car in a regal manner, extending her hand as if she were royalty. Without missing a beat, Morello takes her hand and even bows down in an over-the-top gesture.

Morello Rodriguez told Newsweek he was simply helping her out the car but decided to be extra funny with it. “He immediately matched my energy. Truly this happens all the time,” she said.

The 25-year-old also described how her dad’s sense of humor has been a huge influence on her and her siblings. “My brothers and I adopted his sense of humor super early on in my life and sometimes I surprise myself with how similar I am to him,” she told Newsweek.

Morello Rodriguez said that while she’s super close to both her parents, she and her dad are best friends. “I could take him shopping with me, get his nails done and grab a sweet treat and he’d be happy to come. He’s fostered an environment for my siblings and I that is pure, wholesome and encouraging. He’s truly the best dad a girl could have,” she said.

The clip has gone viral since it was posted on September 6, reaching over 16 million views so far. Her video clearly struck a chord with other TikTok users, many of whom shared their admiration for the father.

“He understood the assignment,” one user wrote, while others wished the 60-year-old was their dad too.

“This healed my inner child a little. I always wished for a goofy dad instead of an angry one,” another user shared.

Juggernaut brands such as Google and NIVEA even joined in. “He gets it. It’s fancy time,” the luxury fashion Coach brand commented.

Morello Rodriguez, who regularly shares videos of her dad on social media, told Newsweek that most of her viral videos have featured him.

“They just love seeing a good example of a dad. Plus, he’s so funny. I feel like he gave me the silly gene because my dad has always been the silliest out of my parents. He’s so funny and his humor goes beyond dad jokes,” she said.
