Former President Donald Trump spoke to supporters in a rare visit to the blue state of Colorado and the rally wasn’t just the only unexpected thing.
While onstage in Aurora, Colorado, Trump made no mention of former President Barack Obama, who just a day earlier, took aim at the Republican nominee during an event for Vice President Kamala Harris.
Obama returned to the campaign trail for Harris on Thursday, telling supporters in Pennsylvania that Trump doesn’t represent “real strength,” mocking him for trying to “sell stuff” and joking with audience members about Trump changing his own diaper.
Trump, who’s known to attack his rivals and fire back at public criticisms lodged against him, was oddly quiet on those jokes during his Friday rally. He did call President Joe Biden and Hillary Clinton but made no mention of his predecessor.
Trump did seem to make a dig at Harris’ campaign for calling in Obama to stump for her, writing on Truth Social Friday morning, “Obama admits a total lack of enthusiasm for Kamala, especially with Black Men. I think Obama will be voting for me because he doesn’t like the fact that Kamala is an extremely Low IQ Person!”

Obama’s appearance in Pittsburgh has been largely viewed as a sign that Democrats are concerned about Black male voters turning out for Harris. During the rally, the former Democratic president aimed a message at the voting bloc, telling them, “You’re coming up with all kinds of reasons and excuses. I’ve got a problem with that.”
“Part of it makes me think that, well, you just aren’t feeling the idea of having a woman as president, and you’re coming up with other alternatives and other reasons for that,” Obama said.
“When we get in trouble and the system isn’t working for us, they’re the ones out there marching and protesting,” he added.
Although he kept mum at his rally in Colorado, Trump has criticized Obama in the past for making jabs at him.
When Obama poked fun at Trump’s “weird obsession with crowd sizes” during his speech at the Democratic National Convention, Trump slammed Obama for “getting personal” in his remarks.
“Did you see Barack Hussein Obama last night taking little shots? He was taking shots at your president and so was Michelle,” Trump told a crowd in Asheboro, North Carolina the day after Obama’s DNC speech. “You know, they always say, ‘Sir, please stick to policy, don’t get personal,’ but they’re getting personal all night, these people.”
Trump discussed his notorious use of nicknames for his political rivals during a podcast appearance released Thursday.
“I’m good with names you know,” Trump joked with “flagrant” hosts Andrew Schultz and Akaash Singh.
“The problem with ‘Tampon Tim’ is it’s hard to say,” the former president said about his nickname for Democratic vice presidential candidate and Governor Tim Walz. Trump added that there are others that can be difficult for him to say, like his nickname for Harris, “Comrade Kamala.”
In the final weeks leading up to Election Day, Trump has made a detour from the battleground states, stopping in places like Colorado to campaign. He is scheduled to hold rallies at Madison Square Garden in New York City and in Coachella, California, later this month.
