Donald Trump implied that he had not read his wife Melania Trump‘s new book, Melania, during his speech at a rally in Uniondale, New York, on Wednesday.
In promoting his wife’s new memoir, to be released on October 8, the former president indicated that he hasn’t had time to read it.
Trump said, “Go out and get her book. She just wrote a book, I hope she said good things about [me] I don’t know, I didn’t, so busy. She just wrote a book called Melania go out and buy it, it’s great.”
He added, “And if she says bad things about me, I’ll call you all up and I’ll say, ‘Don’t buy it, get rid of it.'”

The former first lady has been largely absent from the campaign trail and has kept a low profile during her husband’s third bid for the presidency, in comparison to her presence during his 2016 and 2020 campaigns.
Melania Trump did however make an appearance at the Republican National Convention on July 18 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, but did not give a speech.
She showed support for the former president following the first assassination attempt against him in July when she posted a letter asking for compassion for her husband on X (formerly Twitter). She later described the attempt to end her husband’s life as a “horrible, distressing experience” in a video promoting her memoir on September 10.
When previously asked about her plans to return to the campaign trail alongside her husband, Melania Trump told reporters in Palm Beach, “stay tuned,” as Newsweek previously reported.
Newsweek reached out to Donald Trump‘s campaign via email and Melania Trump via a form on the Office of Donald Trump’s website for comment outside of business hours.
The former first lady told Fox News Digital that she was supportive of her husband’s venture to regain the presidency approximately six months after he announced his re-election campaign and the former president has anticipated that she will play a big part in his campaign, as Newsweek previously reported.
In a promotional video on X, the former first lady shared her motivations for writing her memoir.
She said, “Writing this memoir has been a deeply personal and reflective journey for me. As a private person, who has often been the subject of public scrutiny and misrepresentation, I feel a responsibility to clarify the facts.”
“I believe it is important to share my perspective—the truth.”
Melania Trump’s first book, the 256-page memoir will provide intimate details of her life, including her childhood in Slovenia, meeting her husband in a “chance encounter that forever changed the course of her life,” her journey through motherhood, and her time in the White House, according to her publisher Skyhorse.
The memoir will include photographs and stories that have never been shared with the public before, according to her website.
Ahead of the release of her memoir, in another promotional video posted on X on Wednesday, the former first lady has defended her past nude modeling work and said that she does not understand why the media scrutinizes the “celebration of the human form in a fashion shoot” and “stands proudly behind her nude modeling work.”
