Former NFL All-Pro quarterback Jay Cutler was arrested for DUI and gun possession Thursday evening in Tennessee, according to TMZ.

The 41-year-old Cutler was hit with four offenses after being stopped while driving in the city of Franklin, Tennessee late Thursday. According to TMZ the other crimes were failure to exercise due care, violation of implied consent law, and possession of a handgun while under the influence.

According to TMZ, Cutler was booked into the Williamson County Jail, posted $5,000 bond, and was released later Thursday night.

Cutler played for the Denver Broncos, Chicago Bears and Miami Dolphins in a 12-year career from 2006-17. He made one Pro Bowl in 2008 with the Broncos.

Cutler is the ex-husband of television personality Kristin Cavallari, with whom he has three children.

Cutler was the Southeastern Conference (SEC) Offensive Player of the Year as a senior at Vanderbilt in 25. He set multiple school records, including career passing yards (8,697), attempts (1,242), and touchdowns (59). Cutler was selected in the first round of the 2006 NFL draft (11th overall) by the Broncos, making him the third first-round pick from Vanderbilt.

After his lone Pro Bowl season, Cutler was traded by the Broncos to the Chicago Bears in April 2009 in a package that sent two picks in that year’s draft — a first-round pick (Robert Ayers) and a third-round pick (Mike Wallace) — along with a 2010 first-round pick (Anthony Davis) and quarterback Kyle Orton to Denver.

Cutler spent the majority of his career (2009-16) in Chicago. He is the franchise leader in several key passing categories, including yards, touchdowns, attempts, and completions. Cutler led the Bears to a division title and an NFC Championship Game appearance in 2010, showcasing his ability to perform under pressure.

Despite his inconsistent career, Cutler remains one of the most accomplished quarterbacks in Bears history and was named among the 100 greatest Bears of all-time in 2019. He also made NFL.com’s list of the league’s “100 greatest characters of all-time.”

Cutler finished his career with Miami in 2017, making 14 starts and going 6-8 while passing for 2,666 yards. He also threw for 19 touchdowns and 14 interceptions in his final season.

In 2023, Cutler became a regular panelist on the weekly highlight show Inside the NFL.
