Turns out “Karma is the guy on the screen” after all.

The latest trailer for upcoming FX series Grotesquerie shows the first glimpse at Travis Kelce‘s acting abilities. The Kansas City Chiefs tight end actually — briefly — speaks in the full-length trailer, dramatically saying, “There’s no future after this.”

Kelce, 34, also introduces the trailer, coyly smiling as he shares, “You might see some familiar faces.” The video admittedly focuses on Niecy Nash, who plays Det. Lois Tryon, with Kelce only appearing again after the 1:52 mark.

He looks to be wearing a blazer and a button-down shirt in one scene, and a white T-shirt and a hoop earring in another. His character comes across as very serious, with his comment and movements making it look like he’s some kind of prophet or mysterious figure.

Grotesquerie follows a detective (Nash) and a nun (Micaela Diamond) — who is also “a journalist covering crime” — as they investigate a series of brutal murders by a killer who is seemingly taunting them. “They’re playing us, hunting us,” Nash’s character says.

There also seems to be a supernatural element, which Kelce’s character may or may not be a part of. There are many references to “evil,” with Nash’s character calling the crimes “hellish” and “unhuman.”

This latest trailer is the first one that featured Kelce speaking, though he also made a brief appearance in the Grotesquerie teaser, which was released on August 15.

The Ryan Murphy series also stars Courtney B. Vance as Det. Tryon’s husband Marshall Tryon, Raven Goodwin as Det. Tryon’s daughter Merritt, Nicholas Alexander Chavez as Father Charlie, Lesley Manville as Nurse Redd, and Tessa Ferrer as Grace Finn. Kelce’s role is still undisclosed.

The trailer comes not long after it was announced that the New Heights podcaster — who is currently dating superstar Taylor Swift — would also make an appearance in Adam Sandler’s upcoming sequel for beloved comedy Happy Gilmore.

Kelce is also the host for Amazon Prime’s Are You Smarter Than a 5th Grader? spinoff, Are You Smarter Than a Celebrity?, which debuts on October 16.

Grotesquerie premieres on FX on September 25.
