As Halloween approaches, many people are getting into the spirit of spooky season with ghoulish decorations and costumes, but it’s not just humans who like to celebrate, as a group of dachshunds can’t get enough of the seasonal decor either.
On TikTok, user @scbigdaddy shared a video of his three dogs reacting to a Halloween dummy he laid out for the big day. Rather than barking at the creepy figure or even running away from it in fear, the dachshunds appeared comfortable around it, and their owner joked that they had made a new friend.
In the video, two of the dachshunds seemed to think the dummy was a real person they could cuddle up to, and they appeared happy to get into the Halloween spirit early if it meant a new lap to lie on.
The pups’ antics have delighted social media users, and the video has generated more than 1.4 million views and 106,200 likes on TikTok in a matter of days.

Whether it’s the fancy dress costumes, decorating the house or going trick-or-treating, there’s a lot to love about Halloween. Indeed, it may come as no surprise that it ranks as Americans’ third favorite day of the year, according to a YouGov poll conducted in February.
The survey of 1,000 U.S. adults found that Christmas was the most popular day, with 36 percent saying it’s their favorite. Thanksgiving, the favorite day of 23 percent of respondents, ranked second. In third place came Halloween, as 15 percent of Americans said it was their favorite day of the year.
Of course, spooky season isn’t about one day in October anymore, as some Halloween enthusiasts love to prep their homes as early as possible.
Last month, a YouGov survey of 5,601 U.S. adults found that 3 percent thought October 31 was the earliest acceptable time to start displaying Halloween decor. However, the majority of respondents, 39 percent, deemed it acceptable to begin decorating the house between October 1 and 15.
Another 24 percent said it was acceptable to start decorating the house between Labor Day and September 30, and 6 percent said they would put out decorations before Labor Day.

The TikTok video has left social media users in hysterics, receiving more than 1,200 comments in the process.
“If not friend, why friend shaped?” one viewer wrote, while another added, “A new babysitter.”
“Dogs are so non-judgmental,” a commenter said, and a user wrote, “Gotta love a dog that’s a problem solver.”
Another commented, “I might do this just so my dog has some company during the days we’re at work!”
