A golden retriever’s decision to sleep in a bathtub, despite being the owner of a luxurious dog bed, has left viewers online in stitches.
The golden retriever, who is named Woodford, was captured snoozing in the bathtub by his owner. Stunned by his rejection of the top quality bed, his owner decided to share a clip of the canine resting in the bath to an equally amused online audience. The video was shared to TikTok on October 16 by user @woodfordthegoldenm, and has since been viewed more than 707,000 times.
Viewers online were able to see the pet snoring away in the bathtub, as his owner walked closer to him while filming. Woodford, unstirred by his fast approaching owner, continued sleeping in the unusual spot.
An overlaid text on the video read: “Where my dog insists on sleeping over his tempurpedic bed.”
“As long as he’s happy,” Woodford’s owner said.

Golden Retrievers are renowned for their simplicity, trainability, and eagerness to please, making them one of the most popular dog breeds in the U.S.
Their friendly and tolerant attitudes make them fantastic companions, especially for families with children. As evidenced by Woodford, they also make great pets for first time owners as they tend not to be difficult or challenging dogs.
Despite Woodford’s preference for sleeping in bathtubs over beds, Goldens are often highly trainable due to their willingness to follow commands. This makes them suitable for a variety of roles, and they are often put to use as service dogs.
Viewers online have joined Woodford’s owner in laughing over the dog’s bizarre decision. More than 160 have voiced their takes on the amusing moment in the comments section, with some sharing their similar experiences with their own pets.
“You now have to schedule showers around his sleep schedule and random naps,” one viewer said.
Another added: “STOP THAT IS SO CUTE”
“Not him immediately going back to sleep,” a third viewer said.
“Mine [chooses] the wood floor over their dog beds,” another said.
Another added: “Mine LOVES the tub over his crate, elevated cooling bed, and 2 dog beds.”
“No literally my dog chooses to sleep in my dryer,” another said.
Another added: “Mine always hides in there when he hears fireworks or thunder.”
