John Bolton was indicted for mishandling classified data.
The New York Post reports that “the indictment alleges Bolton knowingly transmitted material related to foreign-policy matters while communicating outside contacts after leaving White House.”
A federal grand jury indicted John Bolton, former Trump adviser on national security issues, on Thursday on charges of mishandling of classified information. They accused him of sending sensitive documents relating to national security through his personal AOL account.
Indictment: Bolton is accused of knowingly transmitting materials relating to foreign policy issues while communicating with contacts outside the White House.
Bolton, who is 76 years old, was President Trump’s National Security Advisor from April 2018 to his dismissal in September 2019.
Bolton faces up to 10 years of prison for each count of transmitting classified material without authorization.
Bolton could surrender as early as Friday.
Bolton will surrender to the authorities in Greenbelt federal court as early as Friday.
