Kamala Harris Shares Full Trump Clip After Accusing Fox News of Editing

Vice President Kamala Harris‘s campaign has released the full version of a clip of former President Donald Trump talking about political rhetoric in a new post on X (formerly known as Twitter) on Thursday after accusing Fox News of editing the clip shown during her interview.

Harris, who was interviewed by Fox News’ Bret Baier on Wednesday night, was shown the clip of Trump at the Faulkner Focus town hall on the network. The former president claimed that Democrats are “weaponizing the government” and conducting “phony investigations.”

Harris responded to the clip on air and said, “Bret, I’m sorry, and with all due respect, that clip was not what he has been saying about the ‘enemy within’ that he has repeated when he’s speaking about the American people. That’s not what you just showed.”

The vice president said, “Here’s the bottom line—he has repeated it many times and you and I both know that. You and I both know that he has talked about turning the American military on the American people. He has talked about going after people who are engaged in peaceful protest. He has talked about locking people up because they disagree with him.”

Newsweek has reached out to the campaigns of Harris and Trump for comment via email.

Harris was referring to Trump’s interview with Fox News’ Maria Bartiromo on October 13, in which he responded to President Joe Biden‘s comments expressing concerns regarding a peaceful transfer of power following the election.

Speaking to Bartiromo, Trump said, “I think the bigger problem is the enemy from within…We have some very bad people, some sick people, radical left lunatics. And it should be very easily handled by, if necessary, by National Guard, or if really necessary, by the military.”

Kamala HQ, the official campaign handle of the Democratic nominee, posted the full clip of Trump’s answer to a question on Harris’ statement that the former president sounded “unhinged” and that “unchecked power is in our future.”

In the portion of the clip that Harris accused Fox News of not showing, Trump said, “I thought it was a nice presentation, I wasn’t unhinged. You know what they are? They are a party of soundbites.”

He said, “Somebody asked me ‘can they be brought together,’ I never thought they could because they are very different. It is the enemy from within and they are very dangerous. They’re Marxist and communist and fascist, and they’re sick.”

He said that Democrats “made up the Russia hoax,” that they are “dangerous for our country,” and that they are “so sick and they’re so evil.”

Criticized for not enough media appearances, in her interview with Fox News, Harris discussed among other topics, immigration, abortion, and transgender healthcare. Her chances of winning the election rose as a result of the interview.

The vice president received some support for her interview from users on X, as well as some negative comments.

One user, Olivia Troye, a former Homeland Security advisor for Trump and Pence and now a supporter of Harris, wrote, “VP Kamala Harris showed up & delivered a powerful interview on Fox News, proving once again that she’s committed to being a president for ALL Americans. She didn’t shy away from tough questions & emphasized that her focus is on delivering real solutions for everyone, regardless of politics. #RepublicansForHarris.”

However, some disagreed with these claims and felt Harris did not do well, as Link Lauren, a former senior aide to Robert F. Kennedy Jr. during his campaign, wrote, “Kamala Harris just finished her Fox News interview. It was an utter calamity,” alongside a video discussing the interview.
