Lions HC Dan Campbell Responds to Chris Christie Calling Him ‘Classless’
Share on FacebookShare on Twitter

The Detroit Lions trounced the Dallas Cowboys during Week 6 with a final score of 47-9. Though the win is already a week old, diehard Cowboys and former New Jersey Governor Chris Christie called out Lions head coach Dan Campbell, referring to the trick plays used in the game as “classless.”

“That’s Dan Campbell. He’s got no class, never has,” Christie said Thursday on Mad Dog Unleashed radio show with Chris Russo. “So it’s fine. Look, Dan Campbell, that’s the way he is, and what goes around comes around.”

It can be inferred that Christie was upset that the Lions essentially ran up the score on the Cowboys, despite being far ahead. Now, Campbell himself has responded to the comments made by Christie.

Campbell is asked about Christie being upset with Campbell “running up the score” which already got a big laugh in the room. The Lions head coach smiles and then responds with:

“The last time somebody called me classless, I was drinking wine out of a bottle. … I’m not worried about it.”

The Lions’ head coach has one of the most intense personalities of anyone in the NFL, and it is great to see him smiling and joking. Clearly, the comments made by Christie have not affected Campbell and the team in the slightest.

After the Week 6 win, the Lions faced the Minnesota Vikings on Sunday. They pulled off a huge last-second win, as the team kicked a game-winning field goal in the waning seconds of the fourth quarter.

The Lions are now 5-1 on the year and are in sole possession of first place in the NFC North. Their victory against the Vikings also removed their undefeated record, leaving only the Kansas City Chiefs as the last remaining undefeated team in the NFL.

The Lions were one of the biggest surprises in 2023, putting together a 12-5 record and the first NFC North title for the team in 30 years. They became the Super Bowl favorite for the conference but were knocked out by the San Francisco 49ers in the NFC Championship game.

Despite the tragic end to their epic season, it appears the Lions are right back to where they started in 2023. The team is 5-1 and is looking like they could challenge the NFC for another run at a Super Bowl.

Dan Campbell has been instrumental in turning things around for Detroit, and it looks like he is having a lot of doing so. Even if he is getting hate from politicians.
