Man’s Epic Revenge After Rude Letter From Neighbor Over ‘Vote Kamala’ Signs
Share on FacebookShare on Twitter

A Democrat voter who received an anonymous letter complaining about the Harris-Walz signs outside his home has gone viral for the unusual way he managed to enact his revenge.

Timothy Menz, who resides in Hatfield, Massachusetts, had six signs outside his home showing support for the Democratic presidential candidate, Kamala Harris, and her running mate, Tim Walz, in the upcoming U.S. election.

Prior to putting the signs up, Menz, 41, told Newsweek that he had “no reservations” about placing them outside his home, and he has no qualms with being vocal about politics. However, it appears an anonymous neighbor wasn’t quite so happy about the signs, as Menz received a letter on October 7 calling him a “liberal socialist” and insisting he take the signs down.

He shared a picture of the “harassment letter from a neighbor” on Reddit (posting as user u/Obstipation-nation). The letter reads: “We do not want your kind in our town. How dare you to think you can move here from the South (which I doubt) because people from the South are gracious and caring people. You think you can move here and change everything – I don’t think so.”

During the 2020 presidential election, Joe Biden won the state of Massachusetts, taking its 11 electoral votes, with a 65.6 percent majority. Hatfield specifically voted 68.2 percent in favor of President Biden, as reported by NBC News.

Menz said: “I felt really sad after reading this letter, but we also received a similar letter in May 2023, so I wasn’t necessarily surprised. We think it’s likely a neighbor down the street from us, but don’t know that with 100 percent certainty.”

After receiving the angry anonymous letter, Menz explained that he didn’t “for one second” consider taking any of his signs down. In fact, it actually spurred him on to take it even further.

By way of responding to whoever was clearly unhappy with Menz’s political stance, he had the contents of the letter blown up and put on a banner. So now, in addition to the six Harris-Walz signs outside his home, the giant banner is also on his front lawn.

“This harassment made me feel sad. Hatfield is a wonderful town and a great place to raise a family, and good people live here. This one neighbor really is an outlier and doesn’t represent the community at large,” Menz continued. “I haven’t had any interaction with or spoken to the neighbor in question.”

Menz hasn’t always been a Democrat voter, as he explained that he grew up in a heavily religious, Republican household when he was younger. When he went to college, he became “more moderate” in his views, and in the years thereafter he found himself aligning more with the Democrat party. The 2016 presidential election was when he truly started to be more vocal about politics and he hasn’t shied away from that.

Since posting pictures on October 13 showing the letter and the banner, the Reddit post has gone viral with over 18,000 votes and 860 comments in just a number of days.

Menz has been surprised by the online response, telling Newsweek that he’s received some “very positive reactions” from internet users. He added: “I feel like our Reddit post resonates with a lot of people and we have received so much support online already.”

Many internet users have hailed Menz for refusing to give in to whoever wrote the letter and praised his genius way of getting his own back.

One comment reads: “But they don’t want your kind there? MA is one of the most progressive states in the country. If anything, they don’t want his kind there.”

Another Redditor wrote: “Love this! You are better and stronger than them. I hope your hateful neighbor has to drive by that sign every day. Keep up the good fight!”

“This is EXACTLY the way to deal with anonymous letters. Bravo!” added another Reddit user.

One other commenter responded: “You have no idea how much I love you for this, it’s the funniest thing I’ve seen all week. This brought me so much joy haha.”
