A mom’s series of candid photos of her baby at day care is going viral on TikTok.
The blurry pictures, taken by the baby’s Generation Z teacher, feature the 2- to 3-month-old child in a variety of less-than-Instagram-perfect poses, from mid-yawn to her tongue out. The baby’s mom, who goes by @msmarrisa7 on TikTok, also accompanied her slideshow with Stevie Wonder’s song “Isn’t She Lovely?”

The 28-year-old, who requested to remain anonymous, told Newsweek that her baby’s teacher sends goofy photos of her daughter at day care every day. “When I first received the photos, I thought that they were so funny,” she said.
While all the pictures are laugh-worthy, the mom added that her personal favorite is the fourth slide. “My favorite one is probably the one that makes her look like a DJ,” she said.
Since it was posted on July 18, @msmarissa7’s clip has clocked up more than 1.4 million views and almost 900 comments from other social-media users who couldn’t get enough of the photos.
Some were comparing her baby to the likes of American actor Wallace Shawn and Frank Reynolds from the comedy show It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia.
Many also asked whether the teacher was Gen Z, to which @msmarissa7 replied that she was in the comments.
“I just know she’s giggling to herself before they got sent,” one user commented.
The 28-year-old told Newsweek that the reaction on social media has been crazy and wasn’t expecting the slides to blow up like they did.
“I’m honestly surprised at how many people were shocked that a baby that young was in child care, but in America, you don’t get paid maternity leave, so you don’t really have an option,” the woman said.
The U.S. maternity system poses challenges for new parents. The lack of federally mandated paid maternity leave means many families are left with few options but to return to work shortly after giving birth. In fact, the U.S. is one of the only developed countries that does not guarantee paid leave for new parents.
One user, who wrote that they were also a day care teacher, appreciated the post. “So real,” they added.
“I hope to god I get pictures like this when my son goes to day care. These are golden,” another user wrote. The mom replied and advised simply to ask their teacher and they should accept the parent’s request.
