The South Korean anti-corruption agency has confirmed that President Yoon Suk Yeol was detained after hundreds of investigators and officers from the agency arrived at his compound to arrest him.

The presidential compound was escorted by police in a series of black SUVs. Some were equipped with sirens.

This was their second attempt at detaining him for his declaration of martial law in the last month. Investigators of the Corruption Investigation Office For High-Ranking officials had been in negotiations with the president’s lawyers.
