Rob Schneider has become known for sharing his political opinions on social media and now he’s been asked to avoid discussing the 2024 election when attending a wedding later this year.
Once best known for being a Saturday Night Live alum, these days the comedian often makes the news for his attitude to vaccinations and for his opinions on a variety of social and political matters.
Schneider switched his support from the Democrats to the Republicans before declaring himself an “independent” who is “more conservative now.” He has been endorsing anti-vaccine Independent candidate Robert Kennedy Jr, who suspended his campaign on Friday and endorsed former President Donald Trump.
Late on Tuesday, Schneider shared a post on X, formerly Twitter, of a note he received in a wedding invitation that asked him to refrain from discussing politics—and he also took the opportunity to publicize his tour dates.
Newsweek emailed a spokesperson for Schneider for comment on Wednesday.
“I hope this was sent to ALL the guests, not just ME!” he wrote, before adding: “RobSchneider.com for Tour Dates …”
Alongside the caption, he shared a photo of a note he received in a wedding invite with “ATTENTION” written at the top.
“Dear Guests,” the note continued, “Our wedding falls right after a national election. We cherish all of our loved ones, no matter your political views. Please honor us by keeping politics and election results out of conversation.”
Schneider used his thumb to cover who the note was from.
The note received a mixed response from commenters, with some approving of the idea.
“This is so sane. I love it. Congratulations to the lucky couple!” wrote Jay Bhattacharya, a professor at Stanford School of Medicine.

However, others were more critical, with one person writing: “Wear a Trump tie and let it speak for itself (he will have already won) while you just walk around with a perma grin.”
Schneider is no stranger to sharing his political opinions on X, and he previously revealed that one of his political social media posts negatively impacted his career.
During an appearance on the July 12 episode of the Free the People podcast, the comedian told host Matt Kibbe that his post about Hillary Clinton following the 2016 presidential election cost him work.
After Trump was announced as the incumbent president, the Deuce Bigalow: Male Gigolo star wrote: “I haven’t seen the Democrats this p***** off since we freed the slaves.”
Schneider told Kibbe that he began “working a lot less” after the tweet about Clinton.
“I did a tweet after Hillary Clinton lost that went crazy viral,” he said. “Like 30 million, like it was just one of those things, and the Democrats just absolutely hated it of course.”
In February, Schneider spoke at a fundraiser for Kennedy Jr., who originally ran against Joe Biden in the presidential primaries.
“I’m trying to find a new way to make sure Hollywood never f****** hires me again for a movie,” Schneider said, suggesting his support of Kennedy Jr. had cost him further work and that most of Hollywood planned to vote for Biden.
A longtime opponent of childhood vaccinations, Schneider has previously been accused of spreading misinformation about COVID-19 vaccines on social media, and in July, he slammed the Paris 2024 Olympics opening ceremony for featuring drag queens.
