Security Camera Captures Owner Jumping Into Pool Fully Clothed To Save Dog

The moment a pet parent quickly came to her dog’s rescue was captured on a security camera, proving that owners will stop at nothing to keep their fur babies safe.

A Vivint Smart Home camera showed owner Lexi Myerly in the backyard under the covered porch with a clear view of an in-ground pool with a rock waterslide. Her dog, Rubble, was also out and about for a bathroom break and hoping to get prime sunbathing time. The English Bulldog headed to his usual spot at the top of the pool’s water slide.

She shared with the Vivint team, which was passed on to Newsweek, that Rubble is only allowed outside when the pool gate is up. However, it was down that weekend for a party. She planned to clean up the yard but she instead jumped into action when she heard a splash.

A figure quickly moved down the slide in the security camera footage. As it turned out, Rubble slipped from his sunbathing spot, slid down and went straight into the pool.

“I was changing the song on my phone when I heard a splash,” Myerly said. “I knew it wasn’t any of my kids because they were on the side of the house so it had to be Rubble.”

Her head whipped from her phone to the pool as soon as the dog hit the water. The momentary hesitation was only to see whether or not her dog could swim, but within a split second, she knew the answer. He wasn’t swimming. He was splashing for help. Fully clothed with shoes still on, she went straight into the water to save the dog.

When she got ahold of Rubble, she swam to the side of the pool to let him out.

“The water was a bit chilly and my oldest son ran inside to go grab a towel for both Rubble and I,” she said. “He was upset at me because I told him it was too cold to swim. He said, ‘Mom, you’re not supposed to be in the pool!'”

Thankfully, Rubble made a full recovery and now, instead of sunbathing at the top of the slide, he keeps his distance, she shared. He hasn’t returned up the stairs to the top of the slide since the incident.

“He is very weary of people swimming and tries to play lifeguard anytime anyone is in it,” Myerly said.
