Swifties may have just found their new favorite movie — in addition to Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour and Miss Americana, of course.
Lifetime announced their full holiday schedule on Tuesday, October 15, including a movie seemingly inspired by the Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce romance. Christmas in the Spotlight follows pop star Bowyn (Jessica Lord), who has yet to find her Mr. Right — that is, until she meets Drew, a professional football player (Laith Wallschleger), at one of her shows.
The love interest’s name, Drew, could also be a Swift Easter egg. She has previously spoken about an ex-boyfriend named Drew Dunlap, who inspired her song, “Tim McGraw.” She also mentions another Drew, Drew Hardwick, in her song, “Teardrops on my Guitar.” However, Hardwick was not an ex, but rather, a crush that the singer-songwriter had. The lyrics to that song begin, “Drew looks at me, I fake a smile so he won’t see that I want and I’m needing everything that we should be.”

Taylor Swift (L) and Travis Kelce are seen in SoHo on October 11, 2024 in New York City. On October 15, Lifetime announced their holiday movie lineup, which included a movie seemingly inspired by Swift and Kelce’s romance.

In the Lifetime movie, the pair’s romance kicks off after Drew makes the public declaration that he has a crush on Bowyn. As Swifties and 92%ers (fans of Travis and brother Jason Kelce’s podcast New Heights) well know, Kelce famously tried to ask Swift out by giving her his number on a friendship bracelet during an Eras Tour stop in Kansas City.
Kelce admitted on the podcast that he was disappointed when he realized he wouldn’t be able to go backstage to meet the “Fortnight” singer, and therefore was not able to slip her the special friendship bracelet. However, that was clearly not the end of their story.
The famous pair made their public debut as a couple when The Tortured Poets Department hitmaker was seen cheering for Kelce at a Kansas City Chiefs game in September 2023. Swift would later go on to describe Kelce’s callout on his podcast as “metal as hell” in her Time Person of the Year cover story for Time Magazine in December 2023.
The pair have seemingly been going strong, being spotted on PDA-filled dates ever since, despite rumors of a breakup. One year later, fans took to social media to celebrate the Grotesquerie star’s bold declaration. “One year ago today, Travis Kelce was asking how to get a bracelet to Taylor ❤️,” one fan wrote.
Another posted, “Happy July 26th to those who celebrate! Today is the ACTUAL one year of the podcast dropping (not yesterday.) So glad Travis talked about giving Taylor Swift a friendship bracelet so we could all see a real life romantic comedy play out!”
Lifetime clearly noted the romantic comedy potential, with their official movie description reading, “With each passing day they spend together, their feelings grow stronger… but can it last in the limelight, especially when they both have such hectic schedules? With people questioning if their feelings for each other are real or just for show, the pressure mounts from the press, paparazzi, their fans and even their family.”
The news of Christmas in the Spotlight comes after it was revealed that the Kansas City Chiefs tight end’s mom, Donna Kelce, would be making her film debut in two upcoming Hallmark Christmas movies. As usual, the mom of two isn’t playing favorites, and will be appearing in a film related to each of her children.
Holiday Touchdown: A Chiefs Love Story is obviously a nod to Travis, while Christmas on Call follows a die-hard Eagles fan, a nod to Jason, who was a center for the Eagles until his 2024 retirement.
Christmas in the Spotlight premieres on Lifetime on November 23, 2024, at 8pm ET/PT as part of the network’s “It’s a Wonderful Lifetime” holiday movie lineup.
