Terrier ‘Demands’ Daily Insulin Shot After Getting Jealous of Diabetic Dog

The internet has fallen in love with a terrier who “demands” equal treatment after seeing his diabetic doggy brother getting an insulin injection shot every day.

From Bentley’s perspective, he saw his dog sibling get praise from the owners and he didn’t know why. All this terrier focused on was why he didn’t get any of that attention. Little did he know it was because he is not diabetic and doesn’t need the medication.

“When my other dog was first diagnosed with diabetes, you can imagine he was a bit nervous, so we would make a big deal and celebrate him each time after he got his injection,” the owner told Newsweek via TikTok.

Diabetes is a condition that affects how your body uses glucose and can occur in dogs, cats and other animals. According to the American Kennel Club, diabetes mellitus, or “sugar diabetes,” is the type most often seen in dogs. Treatment includes a specific diet, exercise and daily insulin injections.

The celebrations the diabetic dog was getting in TikTok user @staceonsocial‘s household were met with Bentley’s jealousy. He “wanted in on the action,” and his owners obliged.

The August 17 TikTok video shows Bentley’s owner pretending to give him a shot just as his brother receives. Wagging his tail, Bentley was overjoyed. And just as she does for Bentley’s sibling, the owner clapped for how well Bentley took his own “shot.”

“He would sit at my feet or wait his turn for his ‘shot’ after his puppy brother got his, and he gets soooo excited each time!” the owner told Newsweek.

What started as an innocent way to make Bentley feel included quickly became a daily routine. The owner wrote in the caption of the TikTok post that if she sometimes forgets to do Bentley’s “shot,” he’ll follow her until she does it.

As of Thursday, the TikTok video reached over 745,000 views and garnered 81,100 likes and 551 comments.

“I love the way he sits for his shot so cutely looking at!!! He is beyond adorable,” commented a viewer.

A second TikTok user wrote from Bentley’s perspective: “I’m special, too!”

Another person wrote: “Just wants to be included.”

Others explained their dogs also want equality. From ear or eye drops to support treats and general praise, what one dog gets, the other must also receive.
