It’s not a trick or a treat — the co-hosts of The View will not be dressing up for Halloween on camera in 2024.
During the Tuesday,October 15 episode of Behind the Table, a podcast that gives listeners the scoop on all things View, producer Brian Teta announced that there would be no Halloween costumes on the show this year. Teta knew it would be an unpopular announcement among some viewers, saying that his news would “upset a portion of the audience.” Still, Teta went on to explain that “because it’s only a few days before the election and we need to be live, the hosts are not going to dress up for Halloween.”

Host Joy Behar admitted she was glad to not have to don a costume. “We’ve done it every single year for 28 years — it’s always annoying for us.” Behar, 82, also cited the impact that she and her co-hosts might have on the upcoming election. “I don’t mean that to be grandiose, but we do have some influence in people’s thinking. And we need to use every single minute on this show to inform the public about how dangerous [Donald Trump] is.” Behar and her co-hosts Whoopi Goldberg, Sarah Haines, and Sunny Hostin have been vocal about their dislike of the former president and have accused him of utilizing “fear-based politics.” Based on data from the Nielsen ratings, The View is the most popular daytime talk show in America.
Fans of The View‘s costumed episodes needn’t worry about the future of the tradition, however. Teta went on to say that the episodes are “iconic,” and that he’d “try to bring it back next year.” Past costumes have included Neytiri from the Avatar franchise, Princess Jasmine from Aladdin, and Cruella DeVil from 101 Dalmatians.
