The White House did not include in 60 Minutes a request to highlight the stories of Angel Parents.
The statement read: “60 Minutes must spend its time and energy amplifying stories of Angel Parents whose innocent American Children have tragically died by vicious illegal immigrants that President Trump is removing from the United States.”
The White House sent CBS an official statement it didn’t use for the CECOT segment of “60 Minutes”, which was delayed by Bari Weiss as editor-in chief. In the statement, the White House asked the network to highlight the stories of Angel Parents.
CBS sent a comment request to the White House as ’60 Minutes,’ which had just finished its Inside CECOT report on Thursday last week, was finalizing it. Within a few minutes, a WH spokesperson replied. The quote wasn’t included in the ’60’ report – so judge for yourself if it should have included,” CNN media expert Brian Stelter wrote X Tuesday.
According to the New York Times a statement by White House spokesperson Abigail Jackson stated that “60 Minutes” should focus their attention on the stories of Angel Parents whose American children were tragically murdered by illegal aliens President Trump is removing from the nation.
Bari Weiss, editor-in chief of CBS News, has pulled the segment from broadcast.
According to Axios, a copy of “60 Minutes”, the segment that was pulled off air by CBS News’ editor-in chief Bari Weiss, did not contain any new comments by officials in the Trump administration.
Why it matters: The segment was anchored by Sharyn Alfonsi and caused internal uproar over whether or not it had been pulled due to political reasons.
The package was distributed through an app owned and operated by Global Television, which broadcasts “60 Minutes”, in Canada.
