Henry Cuellar, a Democratic Rep. who was pardoned in a recent Donald Trump pardon, announced that he will run as Democrat for the 2026 elections.
Cuellar announced his intention to run for re-election last week, shortly after Trump’s pardon announcement. The Hill reached Cuellar’s Office for a comment.
Cuellar defended the decision he made to run for a Democrat position in 2026 when he spoke to Maria Bartiromo, Fox News’ “Sunday Morning Futures”.
Cuellar stated Sunday that he followed the words of former President [Lyndon B. Johnson], when he said, “I am an American, a Texan and a Democrat in that order.” “I think anyone who puts their party ahead of their country does a disservice to it.”
He said that he identifies himself as a conservative Democrat and plans to work with President Obama.
In a letter, Henry Cuellar’s daughters claimed that Cuellar’s disagreement with the Biden Administration over the border could have led to an investigation being launched.

Breitbart reported that the Biden DOJ charged the Cuellars with accepting bribes worth more than half a mil from an Azerbaijani energy company. The indictment of May 2024 followed a search warrant that was issued for the Cuellars Laredo residence more than two year earlier.
Cuellar’s daughters, Christina, and Catherine, wrote in their letter to suggest that the fraud investigation may have been sparked by their father’s break with the Biden Administration, particularly on the border.
Donald Trump criticized Cuellar for his decision to run under the Democratic Party banner.
Trump wrote: “Only a few days after signing the Pardon Congressman Henry Cuellar declared that he would be “running” again for Congress in the Great State of Texas…as a Democrat and continue to work with the Radical Left Scum who just weeks ago wanted him to spend his life in Prison -and probably still do!” This lack of loyalty will be a turn off for Texas Voters and Henry’s Daughters. Next time, there will be no Mr. Nice Guy!”
Imagine??? I had predicted that the Radical Left lunatics, who were in charge of the Democrats under Joe Biden, would put Henry Cuellar and his wife Imelda in prison for 15 years. They never gave up on this evil goal! They went after Henry mercilessly with all they had. They wanted to destroy Henry, his beautiful wife, his young daughters and anyone else close to them. The Democrats, even after they lost the 2024 Presidential Election and their power, continued to pursue the Cuellars. Henry Cuellar, who was a staunch advocate of border security, pushed the Dems to be vicious. He opposed illegals flooding into our country, unchecked or unvetted. The congressman did not want people like gang members, drug users, violent criminals, people in mental institutions, and yes, even killers, to come into the USA. The treatment of him and his family was unfair, to the point that his daughters wrote a lovely letter about their parents. (Just posted by TRUTH!) I read it and decided to pardon Henry and Imelda in the interests of justice and on their daughter’s request. I never spoke with the Congressman, nor his wife or daughters. But, I felt good about standing up for a family who was being tormented by sick and deranged individuals – they were treated SO BADLY! I signed the papers and told people in the Oval Office I had done something very good, possibly life-saving. God was happy for me on that day. THEN IT HAPPENED!!! After signing the pardon, Congressman Henry Cuellar said he would be “running” again for Congress in Texas, the state where I had the highest vote count ever recorded. As a Democrat he will continue to work with the same Radical Left Scum who just weeks ago wanted him and wife to spend their entire lives in Prison – And they probably still do today!
