Donald Trump’s policies on border security are working.
In July, border officials picked up 93% fewer unaccompanied foreign children at the border.
July 20,24: 7,501
July 20,25: 515
Border officials only picked up 515 children and young people at the border in July 2025. This is down from 7,501 kids and youths in July 2024. Arrival numbers show a drop of 93 percent in inflow.
The decrease will benefit children who are overcrowded in many schools due to the large smuggling numbers encouraged by Joe Biden, his pro-migration border boss Alejandro Mayorkas, and their massive levels of smuggling.
Mayorkas’ pro-migration policy may have caused the deaths of thousands of migrants, and harmed many poor countries.
The shutdown of child smuggling came after the deputies of President Donald Trump adopted a number anti-smuggling policies that identify clearly the sponsors as the children are settled in the United States. Sponsors are now required to submit fingerprints, a DNA test, and information about their income.
Tricia McLaughlin of Homeland Security, the spokesperson for the department, stated that the agency is looking to protect children released by the Biden Administration.
Border Report via AP reported:
Tricia McLaughlin is a spokesperson for Homeland Security. She released a statement in which she did not mention any arrests, or the specific changes. She said that the department was looking to protect kids who were released during President Joe Biden’s administration.
In a federal report published last year, the watchdog examined the struggles of Biden’s government during an increase in the number of migrant kids arriving at the U.S./Mexico border by 2021. Homeland Security and FBI have been dispatched by the Trump administration to visit these children.
A recent change has allowed ICE to conduct interviews with children in government-run shelters. This directive was sent by the Office of Refugee Resettlement to all shelters on July 2.
The agency stated that it does not allow its staff to participate in law enforcement interviews. Children’s legal advocates claim that they are given only one hour notice before the interview and often misled or don’t know the purpose.
