Donald Trump has endorsed RNC chairman Michael Whatley to fill the North Carolina Senate seat.
Trump said: “He’s STRONG at the Border. He stops Crime. He supports our Military/Veterans. And he cuts Taxes. We can save our Second Amendment, which is always under attack.” I need him to represent YOU in Washington.
The Republican National Committee was successfully run by one of our most talented executives, Lara Trump. He lives in my incredible state, which I love. And he won six primaries in a row, including the Presidential Primary. My relationship with your State has been great, and was only enhanced by my job after January 20th when I took on the flood-drenched areas abandoned by Sleepy Joe Biden, and by your Governor. I fixed the problem through money and hardwork like no one else could. Michael Whatley, Chairman of the RNC was the one who energized this project and many others. This Statement is being sent out for very good reasons. Mike would be an incredible Senator from North Carolina. He’s fantastic at what he does and he certainly was great at the RNC, where we won the Presidential Election by a landslide, winning every Swing State and Popular Vote. Michael Whatley is running for the U.S. Senate. I want to help my friends in North Carolina. He is strong on the Border and has a proven track record of stopping Crime, helping our Veterans, cutting taxes, and defending our Second Amendment. I need him to represent YOU in Washington. I am fortunate to have someone who will do an excellent job as Chairman of the RNC. Joe Gruters is his name, and I will give him my complete and total endorsement. Please let this notification be my complete and total endorsement if Michael Whatley runs for the Senate. He will never let you down!
Whatley will run to replace Republican Senator Thom Tillis.
Lara Trump has decided to not run for the seat.
Fox News confirms that Republican National Committee chair Michael Whatley, with the blessing of Donald Trump, will run for an open GOP-held Senate Seat in North Carolina’s battleground state.
After Lara Trump, the daughter-in law of the President, decided to not run for the seat.
The current occupant of the seat is Republican Senator Thom Tillis. He announced last month that he would not run for reelection at next year’s midterms.
Whatley’s announcement, first reported Thursday morning by Politico, comes just a day after Fox News had confirmed that the former two-term governor was running for reelection. Roy Cooper, a Democrat from North Carolina, is expected launch a Senate bid. Cooper could make his announcement as soon as next week.
