Trump’s administration has just recalled nearly 30 career diplomats.
Joe Biden was the president when all those who were recalled held their posts.
The Trump administration has recalled nearly 30 career diplomats who held ambassadorial or other senior embassy positions. It is reshaping the U.S. foreign policy by bringing in personnel that fully supports President Donald Trump’s priorities of “America First”.
Two State Department officials who spoke under condition of anonymity about internal personnel movements said that the chiefs of missions in at least 29 different countries were told last week that their terms would end in January.
They had all taken their positions in the Biden Administration, but they had also survived an initial purge that took place in the first months of Trump’s Second Term. This targeted mostly political appointees. This changed on Wednesday, when officials in Washington began sending them notices about their impending departures.
The Trump administration has fired thousands of State Department employees.
Career diplomats can continue to serve, even though it’s normal for new presidents replace ambassadors who were appointed by political parties. It is assumed that they are in the Foreign Service and will follow the wishes of the White House, regardless of the political party.
The Trump administration does not have much faith in the State Department’s career ranks. The administration has already fired thousands of State Department employees. Its officials called the State Department an oasis of liberalism.
Great News!
