Two new polls, released this week, showed that Ciattarelli was closing the gap on Democratic nominee Mikie Sherrill for governor in the race to replace the term-limited Murphy.
A Fox News poll conducted from 10-14 October, the slightly newer of two surveys, gave Sherrill 50% support, while Ciattarelli received 45%. Sherrill had a 5-point lead, down from 8 points in Fox News’ New Jersey survey conducted in September.
New Jersey and Virginia hold their gubernatorial contests the year following a presidential election. The contests are always a big deal and seen as gauging the political climate ahead of midterm elections the next year.
According to another poll, the race was only 3 points apart.
A new poll by a GOP super-PAC supporting Jack Ciattarelli’s governor campaign finds that the race is close, though Mikie Sherrill’s Democratic opponent still has a slight lead.
The poll conducted by KAConsulting (the polling firm of former Trump adviser Kellyanne Conway) and commissioned by Change NJ shows Sherrill leading Ciattarelli 47% to 44%. This is a slightly closer race than Conway’s previous publicly released poll in July, when Sherrill led Ciattarelli by 47% to 42%.
