The President will deliver remarks to the Justice Department on Friday, focusing on crime and immigration. This is a noteworthy appearance as no president has visited the Justice Department for over a decade.
White House Press Secretary Karoline Laavitt stated that the President’s address will focus on “ending weaponization of justice” against Americans based on their political views.
“I believe we have incredible people and I will only present my vision.” The president said to reporters on Thursday that it was their vision but his ideas.
Mr. Trump was a frequent critic of the Department of Justice before Jack Smith, a special counsel indicted him for two cases following his departure from office.
According to the Justice Manual, the Justice Department does not advise about criminal or civil cases or investigations pending, or possible, to protect their independence and integrity.
In 2015, Barack Obama paid tribute to departing Attorney General Eric Holder, the last public appearance of a U.S. President at the Justice Department. In 2001, George W. Bush visited the Justice Department to officially change the name of building in honor of Robert F. Kennedy who was attorney general during the administration of John F. Kennedy.
The President’s remarks will be attended by Attorney General Pam Bondi, FBI Director Kash patel and FBI Director Pam Bondi.
Some Democrats criticised Mr. Trump before the president’s comments and claimed he had broken the law ever since he became president.
Rosa DeLauro, the ranking member of the House Appropriations Committee, said that President Trump broke the law from day one and pardoned hundreds violent criminals immediately upon his taking office. The Trump administration violates the Constitution and the law every day, by stealing money from programs that benefit American families and businesses. It also fires career civil servants with no cause and demolishes agencies created by Congress.
Grace Meng, a Democratic Rep. from California, said in a press release that “restoring law andorder begins with respecting our Constitution and Rule of Law.” “This administration has not done so since the very beginning.”
