Woman Gets Drastic Haircut, Cat’s Reaction Is Priceless: ‘Judgement’

Pets thrive on keeping the status quo and the slightest change could cause confusion or stress.

One cat couldn’t hide her confusion after her owner came home looking slightly different. She’s used to recognizing everyone coming in and out of her kingdom, but that was challenged when the owner returned with a new hairstyle. The owner chopped 10 inches off her hair, enough to make anyone do a double take.

Knowing it was a dramatic change, the owner filmed her cat’s reaction and shared it in a recent TikTok video to her account @paisleah90. Her cat stopped and stared with quiet, low meows showing her hesitation. Something was off but she couldn’t quite put her paws on it.

The owner kept trying to console her hesitant cat. She explained it was just a haircut, but it wasn’t clicking. The cat’s eyes looked her up and down, “judgment” for both the haircut and disrupting the familiarity of her household.

Newsweek reached out to @paisleah90 via TikTok for additional comment.

Since actions speak louder than words and the cat’s priceless reaction could be heard from a mile away. It seemed like she wasn’t a fan of the haircut, but it could also be because she felt uncomfortable not recognizing who was in her home.

Cats can typically recognize their owners through the same five senses humans use, an article from Catster reported. While cats can recognize owners with their sight, it is not the most obvious way they identify you.

A cat’s sense of smell is 14 times better than a human’s, making it easy for them to pick up on their owner’s scent. However, they can be extremely sensitive to the changes. The article also stated cats can recognize owners through their voices or even by the sound of their footsteps.

One would think a cat’s strong senses would be enough to make this cat understand the person who came home from the salon was her owner, but perhaps the haircut was too drastic to focus on anything else.

Viewer Reactions

TikTok users couldn’t stop laughing at the cat’s reaction to her owner’s fresh haircut. By Friday, the clip brought in over 2.2 million views, 412,900 likes and 2,372 comments.

“Cats like, ‘Where’s the rest of ya,'” joked a viewer.

Another added: “She’s real concerned about you losing your fur.”

A third person wrote: “Kitty is not sure about your decision.”

Someone explained: “It’s because of the smell, my cats used to do this every time I was back from a hairdresser, the smell of hair products that you don’t normally use, makes them think that you’re someone else.”
