A woman who found a note in a parking lot and shared it online has sparked a massive debate.
Tiffany Palladino, from Alabama, was visiting Orlando, Florida, with a friend when she noticed a piece of paper on the ground outside multiple retail stores.
“It was next to the tire of my vehicle. I was the passenger in the car so it was on the passenger side on the ground,” she told Newsweek.
And while she “didn’t see anything happen when we parked,” someone somewhere had certainly felt wronged, as the note read: “It means I’m pregnant with 2 kids waiting for a parking space.
“I guess you needed it worse than me you classless ghetto garbage. Have a nice day and enjoy your parking spot.”
Palladino, who is in her 40s, initially had a “giggle” at the note while reading it with her friend, but quickly began thinking “the person who left the note seemed more than entitled”.

Tiffany Palladino found the note near her car while on vacation in Florida. She was shocked, and decided to share it online.

“It felt harsh at best,” she said. “For someone who seemed like they needed a space it surprised us that they took time to reprimand someone they didn’t know.”
The two friends began discussing the possible issues, as you may not be able “to tell someone is pregnant from inside a car,” and perhaps the driver who took the space was disabled, or may have “needed the space even more than she did”.
“The more speculation we were doing, the more the people in the situation became real to us,” she said.
And the same happened when Palladino, who works in recruitment, shared the note to Reddit‘s r/FoundPaper sub on September 18 through her account SunshineRvn, where it racked up close to 700 upvotes.
As one person put it: “Maybe they did need it more than her? She doesn’t know what’s going on in the other driver’s world. She’s pregnant with two kids, obviously busy, but found enough time to write down a hateful message because she didn’t get her way?”
“I was sympathetic until the ‘ghetto garbage’ comment,” one user wrote, adding: “Yikes.”
Another argued: “You can’t just assume (or even tell if) the person you’re fighting over a spot with is pregnant, and we also don’t know anything about the recipient of the note. Maybe they were pregnant too.”
And one said sarcastically: “Wow, wish I’d known when I was pregnant that it entitled me to any parking spot I wanted regardless of who got there first.”
One user suggested the parking spot may have been specially designated for pregnant women or people with young children, but Palladino responded, stating she saw no signage indicating that was the case.
While expectant mothers are not legally allowed park in disabled parking spaces, should their pregnancy affect their mobility, they may be able to apply for a temporary disabled person parking permit.
According to the Florida Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles, people with short-term mobility impairments can receive a temporary permit for up to six months.
Palladino told Newsweek she was “absolutely shocked” at the huge reaction to her post, having only recently joined Reddit.
“For my first post, it’s been incredible to see the community’s feelings, rationale and even some scenarios we had not considered,” she said.
“It’s also slightly concerning to me that this is the world we live in. People are so volatile right now and will do just about anything—including argue with a strangeror leave them a note just to prove a point.
She worried that, “as a society there seems to be a lack of manners and zero tolerance for common courtesy.”
