It’s a sports frenzy for New York fans today. The Yankees, Mets, and Jets all play on Monday.

It’s a hell of a day for New York sports fans:

• 4:08 PM: Mets vs. Dodgers (NLCS)
• 7:38 PM: Yankees vs. Guardians (ALCS)
• 8:15 PM: Jets vs. Bills (MNF)

The Rangers and Islanders also have games.

The Yankees are playing in Game 1 of the America League Championship Series. The club will face the Cleveland Guardians in a rematch of two seasons ago.

The last time the two teams met, the Yankees won in five games. New York has had its way with the Guardians in October as they also beat the team in 2020 and 2017 in the playoffs.

Nevertheless, Anthony Volpe believes the ALCS will be extremely competitive this season.

“They’re a good team,” Volpe said of the Guardians. “They have their record, and they played the way they did for a reason the whole season. They obviously have a really good staff and I think a complete lineup. So it’s going to be a tough series.”

The Mets are hoping to take one game away from the Dodgers in Los Angeles on Monday. The Dodgers won 9-0 on Sunday in the series opener. Mets’ Japanese right-hander Kodai Senga lasted just 1.1 innings in Game 1 of the NLCS.

“He was off. He didn’t have it,” Mets manager Carlos Mendoza said. “He didn’t have the life on his fastball and a lot of balls out of hand, non-competitive pitches, especially the split. You could tell that the way that they were taking those pitches they were balls out of the hand. Definitely off today.”

The Dodgers earned three runs in less than two innings, but it would be a mistake for Los Angeles to underestimate the Mets. Francisco Lindor is still the favorite to win the National League MVP and the team has come from behind before. Just ask the Philadelphia Phillies.

Game 2 of the NLCS starts at 4:08 p.m. The Mets will return to Citi Field for the next three games of the series.

The Jets are playing in a Monday Night Football showdown against the Buffalo Bills. There has been a lot of buzz surrounding the New York franchise since the team departed ways with head coach Robert Saleh. The Jets fired Saleh after a 2-3 start to the season.

Jets players found out the way everyone else did—through social media. The team hadn’t even formally announced Saleh’s untimely exit before the news broke. Amidst the chaos, the Jets still had to prepare for their upcoming matchup with the Bills.

The game will certainly be an emotional one, but the Jets have the opportunity to tie for the lead in the AFC East if they can hold off quarterback Josh Allen and company.
