The FBI’s National Threat Operations Center had received an anonymous tip about a possible school shooting at Benjamin Cardoso in New York City earlier today. A student with a loaded gun was arrested by NYPD and FBI staff after a swift response. The FBI will continue its tireless efforts to protect our children.
Thank you to @NewYorkFBI and the NYPD for partnering up once again to protect our nation.
The student’s name was not revealed.
Reports claim that the student had posted it on Instagram Thursday morning, and was arrested two hours later. The student’s backpack contained a gun.
Patel did name the suspect, but officials in New York City said that the teenager was 16 years old and in 10th grade. It was not immediately known what motivated the latest potential shooting.
On Thursday morning, the potential shooter allegedly posted on Instagram that he was going to attack the school. He was then arrested two hours later on campus. The gun was discovered in his backpack.
New York City Mayor Eric Adams stated that “this afternoon, we can breathe a sigh if relief” because Cardozo High School staff and students are safe. “Earlier today, 16-year old student was arrested after posting on Facebook that he planned to’shoot up the school. ‘”
