Former Kansas City Chiefs wide receiver Kadarius Toney has found his next home.
According to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport, Toney is signing with the Cleveland Browns.
Toney visited the Seattle Seahawks and had other visits lined up. However, he’s elected to join Cleveland for the 2024 season.

Rapoport added that Toney will start on the team’s practice squad and ease in with his new team.

Toney, 25, was released by the Chiefs at the end of August as the team trimmed its roster down to 53 players.
Chiefs general manager made it clear he didn’t regret the trade for Toney, which saw a third- and sixth-round pound head to the New York Giants. However, he did express disappointment that Toney never fully reached his potential in Kansas City.

“We’re certainly disappointed,” Veach said. “I think he’s disappointed. We really liked the kid, and I know that people have different takes on Kadarius, but I know in this building he’s a bright kid, he’s a smart kid. When you look back on it, some of this stuff is a stroke of bad luck in regards to some of the injuries you can’t control. Like walking out the first day of training camp last year and tearing his [meniscus]. I mean, that was something that was just unfortunate.”
In 20 games with the Chiefs, Toney had 41 catches for 340 yards and three touchdowns. The former first-round pick of the Giants has accumulated 82 receptions for 760 yards and three touchdowns across his three-season career. His biggest issue that plagued his time with the Chiefs was drops, especially in timely moments.
Toney will now get a fresh start in Cleveland, a team with a talented receiving core headlined by Amari Cooper, Jerry Jeudy, and Elijah Moore. However, after struggling in a 33-17 Week 1 loss to the Dallas Cowboys, the Browns are looking for more ways to open up their offense. Toney definitely has the talent to do it.
When Toney gets the call up to the active roster, he will likely be the team’s No. 4 receiver behind the aforementioned top three. Cooper had two catches for 16 yards on Sunday. Jeudy had three catches for 25 yards and a touchdown, while Moore had three catches for nine yards. Star tight end David Njoku led the way with four receptions for 44 yards before exiting with an ankle injury.
