What is an Amber Alert?
AMBER Alerts are issued under specific conditions to help locate abducted children.
To trigger an AMBER Alert, the child must be under 18 years old, and there must be reasonable belief the child has been abducted and is in immediate danger. Additionally, there needs to be sufficient descriptive information about the child, abductor, or involved vehicle. The alert must be issued shortly after the abduction to maximize the chances of a successful recovery.
In 2023, the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children assisted law enforcement, families and child welfare with 28,886 cases of missing children.
