An AMBER Alert issued for a missing 4-year-old Idaho girl is now canceled after the Owyhee County Sheriff’s Office found the child.

Laney Landry, who was last seen in the Bachman Grade area of Owyhee County on Sunday, was found on Monday evening.

Authorities believed Landry was in immediate danger and was possibly abducted by 55-year-old Rand Gruber traveling in a white 2010 Ford Escape.

The Owyhee County Sheriff’s Office told Newsweek there are no other updates on the young girl’s abduction but confirmed Gruber is not a relative.

“To our knowledge, he [Gruber] is not related to her [Landry] by blood,” the sheriff’s office told Newsweek.

Landry is described as a black female, standing around 3 feet, 6 inches tall, and weighing 36 pounds, with brown hair and brown eyes.

Gruber is described as a white male, standing around 5 feet, 8 inches, and weighing 180 pounds with brown hair and green eyes.

What is an Amber Alert?

AMBER Alerts are issued under specific conditions to help locate abducted children.

To trigger an AMBER Alert, the child must be under 18 years old, and there must be reasonable belief the child has been abducted and is in immediate danger. Additionally, there needs to be sufficient descriptive information about the child, abductor, or involved vehicle. The alert must be issued shortly after the abduction to maximize the chances of a successful recovery.

In 2023, the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children assisted law enforcement, families and child welfare with 28,886 cases of missing children.

Active AMBER Alerts

AMBER Alerts are still active for missing children in Tennessee and Wisconsin.

Sebastian Rogers, 15, went missing on February 26. He disappeared from his mother and stepfather’s home in Sumner County, Tennessee.

He is described as 5 feet 5 inches tall and weighs around 120 pounds. He has brown hair and brown eyes and he wears glasses. He was last seen wearing black sweatpants and a black sweatshirt.

Anyone with information about Rogers is being asked to call the Sumner County Emergency Communications Center at 615-451-3838 or the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation at 1-800-TBI-FIND.

Elijah Vue, 3, went missing from his mother’s boyfriend’s house on February 20 in Two Rivers, Wisconsin.

“He was last seen wearing gray sweat pants, long sleeve dark colored shirt and red and green dinosaur slip on shoes,” the Amber Alert said.

Anyone with information in this case should contact the Two Rivers Police Department at 844-267-6648.
