Travis Kelce Reacts to Brother Jason Kelce’s ESPN Debut Gaffe
Share on FacebookShare on Twitter

Travis Kelce shared his reaction to brother Jason Kelce’s ESPN debut gaffe, and the fans are hoping Monday night is always going to be this way.

The former Philadelphia Eagles center made his appearance on Monday Night Countdown on September 9 alongside host Scott Van Pelt, Dallas Cowboys alum Marcus Spears and NFL safety Ryan Clark. During the introduction, Van Pelt called out Jason Kelce over his wardrobe mishap.

“We are thrilled to welcome in a six-time first team… Super Bowl champion, future gold jacket wearer. He’s got a podcast and apparently he’s doing fairly well,” Van Pelt began. “And all that said, Jason Kelce is wearing the shirt he got at the mall because he left his travel bag in the truck.”

“It fits my belly now, I’ve lost a little bit of weight,” the Ohio native responded. “But uh, my t*** are still struggling.”

On Monday, Travis Kelce took to X, formerly Twitter, to poke fun at his sibling after seeing his Monday Night Football debut.

“Surprised he bought a new one and didn’t just go shirtless,” the Kansas City Chiefs tight end shared.

At the time of publication, the clip had been viewed more than 3.4 million times and had over 400 comments.

In the replies, fans enjoyed the brotherly banter.

“Please tell us we’re going to get weekly Twitter roasts,” @dntlikeacidrock wrote.

“Love this! I have two brothers and they have the same energy,” @berlinbears1961 said.

“😂 Omg! He’s so funny!” @poodlegirl08 chimed in, while @banditcal2015 added, “ESPN freaking out because he just said ‘t***’ on TV.”

Jason Kelce replied to a fan on X who asked if it’s okay to “say t*** on tv.”

“I don’t know, did they bleep it?” he asked in response.

Newsweek reached out to ESPN via email for comment.

Jason Kelce announced his retirement from the NFL in March after 13 seasons with the team. Since then, he and Travis Kelce scored a $100 million podcast deal for their show New Heights. He also has partnerships with Buffalo Wild Wings and Garage Beer and even launched a new General Mills cereal mix with his brother.

In May, the duo confirmed Jason Kelce’s ESPN news on New Heights.

“Couldn’t be happier for you, dude,” Travis Kelce said. “We grew up watching all of the legends, and ESPN really fueled our sports, like, fandom, our competition, our knowledge of the games and the sports that we were playing, and I’m just so happy for you, man.”

The dad of three—who shares daughters Wyatt, Elliotte and Bennett with wife Kylie Kelce—gave details about what fans can expect from his new gig.

“The big thing is Monday Night Countdown, that’s the main part of the deal. We’ve got some other things in the works potentially, but that’s the most important thing that we’ve really tried to iron out,” he said, before sharing his disbelief about the job.

“It’s crazy, you know? Especially when we were growing up, this was the night everyone thought of with football, right? Monday Night Football, and now I’m going to be on there with some incredibly talented people—with Scott Van Pelt, Marcus Spears, Ryan Clark.

“All these guys offer not just great expertise, but wonderful personalities, and I just think it’s going to be a lot of fun, man. It’s gonna be a good time, we’re going to be at the games traveling around.”

At the time, Jason Kelce joked, “I still don’t know what I’m wearing, so I guess we’ll find out.”

“Is ESPN going to make you wear a suit?” Travis Kelce asked. “Are they going to make you button it up, dude?”

“I don’t mind wearing a suit if that’s what it calls,” the NFL star replied. “I think there’s a time to be relaxed and you know, be off the cuff, but there’s also a time I think to be a little bit more buttoned up, and yeah we’ll see, we haven’t really talked too much about it. I’m just kind of rolling with it.”
