A mom of three has raised eyebrows after her decision to place her son’s crib in the walk-in closet went viral, but she told Newsweek it was the perfect solution.
Jasmine and Tiernan Phillips initially had their third baby by their bedside in his bassinet but once he was sleeping through the night, they chose to move him to their closet.
“I wasn’t ready for him to be down the hall so far away from us, but he was also ready to be in his own space, so our closet was the perfect solution. We all slept better that way,” said Jasmine.

Little Wrenley, who is six months old in Jasmine Phillips’ video, had just woken up from his nap and seems very comfortable in his parents “large” walk-in wardrobe.

Phillips posted a clip of her son, Wrenley (Wren), filmed after he had just woken up from his nap as she wanted to capture the precious moment before moving him into his own room at two and a half months old.
Phillips explains in the caption that Wren had been “sleeping like a champ” since he was put in the temporary nursery during the night.
The 31-year-old told Newsweek that she found the setup to be ideal not just for herself, but for Wren too.
“The first few months with any newborn [are] challenging, but initially he was by far our ‘hardest’ baby. Thankfully it was extremely short-lived, and once we figured things out with him, he’s been our best sleeper, and is the absolute happiest baby,” she said.
Since it was posted in July, Phillips’ reel has clocked up two and a half million hits and garnered a mixed reaction from other social media users in the comments section.
Some questioned how the closet gets ventilation or fresh air, and wondered why the bassinet couldn’t remain next to the parents’ bed.
On the other hand, one mom shared that they also had to put her six-month-old son in the walk-in closet as the military housing she was staying in didn’t have enough bedrooms.
“It was like his own little baby-man cave. He loved it! (And before all the random internet haters come for me… it was well ventilated, had a fan, air purifier, monitor, etc. All the things!),” she commented. Others wrote how “happy” Wren looked in the video.
Phillips clarified that the entirety of their sizable closet can’t be seen in the video and that it does have proper ventilation.
“Of course, [we] blocked out the noise from his two older siblings who are constantly running around the house,” she said.
As with anything she shares on her page, the mom of three hoped the reel was lighthearted and relatable. Seeing how happy Wren was in her walk-in closet was part of the reason why she kept the arrangement for so long.
“It was the perfect sleeping environment for him, so we didn’t want to mess that up,” Phillips added. As the saying goes, if it ain’t broke…”
