From a dog that begs his owner to put him to bed then turns into a “gremlin” to another that can play the recorder better than most children, we’ve seen some brilliant pet stories online this week.

But our readers have also been sending their pet videos and pictures for Newsweek Pet of the Week. If you want your pet to be part of next week’s line-up, follow the instructions at the end of this story to find out how.

Marianne Dighton

This week’s Pet of the Week winner is Me Meow, a Maine Coon who lives with owner Marianne Dighton.

But Me Meow has an unusual love—water—setting him apart from other cats.

“He loves to play in the water anywhere and he takes daily showers,” Dighton told Newsweek, sharing a video of the moment Me Meow demanded his daily shower. She explained that some days, he asks to get into the water up to 10 times a day.

More than just a playful companion, Me Meow is Marianne’s best friend, and his daily antics bring joy to her life.

Finalists

Bill McCabe

Our first finalists this week are senior service dogs Jeter and Atlas. Both rescues with difficult pasts, they live with owner Bill McCabe.

Jeter, a bichon frisé, lost his sight two years ago but remains playful and energetic, relying on his sense of memory and the support of Atlas. While Maltipoo Atlas endured severe neglect before being rescued, but today he is healthy and full of life, running and playing like a puppy.

The bond between Jeter and Atlas is unbreakable, and they bring immense joy to their owner’s life too. “I may have rescued them, but they saved my heart,” he told Newsweek.

Joy Scott

Next up this week is Joy Scott, a 4-year-old Maine coon named Stan Lee.

Like many cats, he has a laid-back attitude and rules the household. He loves treats, and he has learned a few tricks in exchange for his favorite snacks.

Stan Lee enjoys going for rides in his stroller and is a huge part of his family’s life. “Stan-Lee is pretty laid back and agreeable to anything as long as a treat is available,” Scott told Newsweek.

Jackee Jackson

Last but not least this week is Rage, a dog fondly remembered by owner Jackee Jackson.

Intelligent and protective, Rage was a huge part of the family, known for her loyalty and intelligence.

“She could open presents, she learned sign language, and she figured out how to spell,” Jackson told Newsweek. “I never had to have her on a leash because she was the friendliest dog. I miss her.”

Do you have funny and adorable videos or pictures of your pet you want to share? Send them to life@newsweek.com with some details about your best friend, and they could appear in our Pet of the Week lineup.
