Sister Wives star Janelle Brown isn’t keeping quiet when it comes to her opinions about how her ex, Kody Brown, is parenting.
Kody Brown, 55, is the patriarch of the plural marriage family featured in TLC’s Sister Wives. He had four wives at the beginning of the series, but now only he and Robyn — the only wife to whom he’s been legally married — are still together.
In a September 29 episode, the 55-year-old Janelle said she didn’t think Robyn and Kody’s daughter Ariella understands the realities of a plural marriage. In her confessional, she said that her and Kody’s six children knew “from the very beginning” that “their dad was not going to always be there.” On the other hand, she said, ” Kody and Robyn mismanaged the situation with their children. He couldn’t be away for more than three or four days because Ari just gets so sad or whatever. I feel like that was poor parenting.”

Ariella, 8, has been known to have tantrums when her father leaves their home. Kody recalled a particularly emotional parting from Ariella, and how his wife Robyn, 45, responded: “She grabs my leg and won’t let me leave. And I’m like, ‘Robyn I need you to drag her off me.’ And she says, ‘She’s expressing herself. You’re gonna have to take five minutes and let her do it.’ “
Janelle went on to express that she felt like her family was “separate” from Robyn’s. “My children were always scolded if they opened up Robyn’s fridge,” she explained.
Robyn denied any attempts to keep Kody closer to her children than the children of Meri, Christine, or Janelle, Kody’s other “spiritual” wives. In fact, she says she “wouldn’t have allowed” any behavior that kept her husband from going to “another mom’s home.” There are 17 children in the Brown family in total.
